To: Alas Babylon!
It will be interesting how the Enron story will be presented today. In mid-week the story was "Enrongate" and how it was going to topple the Bush administration. By yesterday most of the "pack journalists" had actually taken the time to look into the vast influence Enron had with both political parties including the previous administration. I suspect "Enrongate" will soon be relegated to the Business Section as executives from both the company and its auditors are brought to justice.

It started dying today as a scandal magnet on MTP. Prosector Timmy tried hard to link the Bush administration by innuendo, but shut his trap when Evans mentioned that GE and Bechtel were big investors in Enron's India venture.

Once it comes out that Enron made massive conributions to Dems as well, the whole thing will disappear.

Companies go out of business all the time and they deal with political personna all the time. Enron did not leave the taxpayers holding the bag, as in Madison S&L, nor was Laura Bush on retainer as a high priced shill.
