Actually, W. needs to be wary ...the tax cut thing usually works to get one elected, can usually be a boost to approval ratings early, but if the cash isn't there, can run one out of office as well. As a resident of Va, I've seen it happen up close and personal. Gilmore was elected on the basis of "no car tax"--sounded great--but in the end, after state employees hadn't been given raises in 3 years, college construction projects were halted, much needed road construction funds were frozen, and finally, even a Republican controlled Va gov't couldn't pass a budget--it ran the Republicans out of office and got Gilmore canned from the RNC... It'll be a very fine line, and tied directly to the economy. If the economy picks up, people are working, and cash is flowing into the coffers, everything will be fine. If social security is about to be raided, there's no cash for prescription drugs, and working America is still hurting--it'll be ugly. Trying to sell a tax cut primarily to the rich in this scenario will be political suicide....and W knows it. Therefore, everyone should pray for the economy to turn or it will be disaster. I've seen it up close and personal right in my backyard....
