University Is Buzzing as Young Pastor Resigns
A homosexual scandal is rocking Rev. Jerry Falwell's archconservative Liberty University, where rumours are rampant that male students engaged in gay sex with a campus pastor.
Scrambling to do damgae control, Falwell-an outspoken foe of homosexuality -slammed a news lid on his Lynchburg Va. campus.
When an ENQUIRER reporter contacted the university to ask about the sudden resignation of Eric Lovett, 29, assistant pastor in Liberty's spiritual life department, Falwell himself called back within minutes.
"While I have heard rumours, I myself have no knowledge, no personal knowledge, of any gay movement," said the 68-year old preacher.
Lovett vehemently denies being part of any gay ring and insists he is not homosexual, but Falwell told the ENQUIRER "I was told he has had problems in this area you speak of (homosexuality), but I myself have no personal knowledge of this.

Excellent commentary.
Christians are... gasp!... human! My wife attended Liberty Baptist and she knew that some of her fellow students were struggling with the same things that kids struggled with on secular campuses, including homosexuality. The worst experience my wife had was with a youth counselor, after her graduation from Liberty High School, who invited her to his apartment for a nice dinner, but who turned out to be a dope smoking lecherous liar. Liberty Baptist doesn't have magic walls to keep out the weak minded and immature.

Lovett vehemently denies being part of any gay ring and insists he is not homosexual: "I resigned on my own. I don't know where the rumors came from. You know how college campuses are full of rumors of all kinds. I am not a homosexual."
Well, it sounds pretty clear to me. So where is there a story here? So far, just crewel rumor. Does anyone have anything else to prove any of this?
When the liberals get caught in a rumor, there's a dead body!

Jesus's love transcends human love....in fact He loved you so much that he died for you on the cross...and you will be able to live with Him forever if you decide to love Him for who He is....God.

Bush's poll numbers must be too high for the liberals to take and the only way the democrats can attack is by digging up dirt on Jerry Falwell. Yep.

I think you have nailed the issue. If this is true, and I believe the National Enquirer is often correct on these matters, then the people involved reacted according to Christian princples as outlined in the Bible. The girlfriend got her boyfriend to go to someone who could help and she went with him. Other info came to light and the young man on staff involved has decided to leave, e-mailing and apologizing to others. Christians have never been perfect, which is reason they turned to Christ in the first place. They just admit their need of a savior. They make mistakes. We need to keep these folks in prayer. I'm impressed that Falwell returned the call at all.

I'm not quite sure why you posted what you did. If you're serious in taking these verses to broach a speculation that Jesus might have been gay, you show both an ignorance of social custom in the first century near-east, and you also seem to have a dirty mind by what you read into these verses. As an example, the idea that Jesus wept over the death of Lazarus "because of his great love for him," and that this implies they may have been gay lovers shows a gross perversion in the mind of the one who would suggest such a thing. Is it unheard of that one man would be driven to tears over the death of a friend? I got choked up at the death our a family cat recently....That doesn't mean the cat and I were sex partners!
Wherever the source of this disgusting commentary, I feel some pity for the person, who cannot see or understand simple, pure, and genuine human emotion without reading something sensational into it.

In all the above instances, the word 'love' is translated from both the Greek 'phileo' and the Greek 'agapao', both of which carry the meaning of 'personal affection' and are sometimes used to suggest 'intimate love', and even 'to kiss'.But no mention of "eros" love. Sorry, I'm not buying it.

I agree. Sin is going to occur ANYWHERE. The fact that this might have taken place at Liberty University doesn't make it MORE of a scandal; it makes it LESS of a scandal. The real scandal is taking place at the 99.999% of colleges that teach their students that sodomy is a basic human right.

Homosexual blashphamy. Read Rev. 12-16. In the end, gays rot in hell. "Whosoever should change one word of this prophacy, will reap the plagues written in this book....."
Nothing like pushing the queer agenda, eh?
Gays also refer to themselves as "normal."

Gay males at Falwell U? Nawww. I'm sure there aren't any fornicators, drunkards, greedy, etc. there either. (/sarcasm)

According to "Men in Black" the tabloids are the only reliable papers out there. After reading Newsweak and Slime Magazine, I have to agree. The Enquirer tends to be quite accurate and ahead on the news.

The left wing media has been trying to "GET" Falwell for over 20 years. If this is the best that they can do its laughable.....one friggin queer !!
