Sounds like all the RATS came out to vote, but lots of GOP voters sat on their butts, making this race closer than it should have been.
I thought it would have been 60-40 , but it ended up 54-44

Well doesn't this just figure.
Someone needs to tell Rove and Co. back at the White House that Special Elections are bread and butter in a closely divided legislature. We should have had shock troops pouring in there to get our people out.
I mean, I'm damn glad that he won and all, but 54-46 be too close in a solid Pubbie district.

Listening to radio ads, TV and commentary, and reading the local papers, Dodd looked like a better candidate running a better campaign--I was very concerned that Dodd might pull this off and am thankful at the apparent result.

lots of GOP voters sat on their butts, making this race closer than it should have been. I agree, even though there was a higher total turnout than expected. Which makes me wonder what got so many people interested in this race? Specifically, what convinced so many people to get out and vote for Dodd? Living in Tulsa, I saw and heard more about Sullivan than I did Dodd, yet Dodd did surprisingly well when votes were counted.

Look no further than Keating! If he hadn't had his wife run in the primary and made that stupid comment about dumb voters in the 1st district this race IMO would not have been this close. Keating needs to put a sock in it for the remainder of his term. Sullivan will do better in the general election IMO than he did in this special election.

This was a special election and a very short campaign time for the Republican thanks to mrs. keating. They were expecting 60,000 and got 100,000! I would imagine that some of mrs. keating's supporters stayed home! J.C. gets 60% in my district everytime. I would expect Sullivan to get about the same in the general election!
Agree 100% with your Keating comments!
