This is worrisome. I don't mind the Feds doing their Constitutional duty to protect the US from, "All enemies, Foreign and Domestic", but the CHP thinking they are the FBI gives me pause.

Is this another "Red Davis Terrorist Alert"? If so I'd rather deal with the remote possibility or terrorism, than Phil Angelides having "Broad Powers".

oh boy, can't wait to re-contact my assemblyperson who felt that the PATRIOT Act was only a fed issue and would send along my letter of concern to my congressperson.

you can lead 'em to water but you can't make 'em drink.

When Bush and Ashcroft do it, it's an assault on the bill of rights, fascism, McCarthyism, etc. When the Dem governor of California does it, it's what - a prudent anti-terrorism measure? Can't wait to see how the LA Times/People's Daily spins this (what am I saying - I can wait).

"Gay" Davis is sickening beyond belief. He'll stop at nothing to change the subject away from this fiscal crisis he's created in our fair state. P.S. Davis is a WHORE for his fundraising tactics!

SACRAMENTO -- Gov. Gray Davis is calling for expanded authority to wiretap Californians' phones and e-mail in the name of protecting against terrorism enemies of the Democrat Party.

As outlined Monday by his top security advisor, former FBI agent George Vinson, the legislation Davis seeks is similar to the Patriot Act signed into law by President Bush in October. The governor's aides said New York has adopted a similar statute "If you think that the Clintons are good at abusing the law, you ain't seen nuthin' yet! Welcome to the People's Republic of California!!". Proposals are pending in Arizona and Washington state....

Gosh, I hope we can get this rotten apple out of office. Our choices are slim for replacement. Hopefully, Riorden will not get the GOP nod....that man is a liberal to the bone.

Pretty amazing turnabout...especially considering the left-wingers screamed and disbanded all LAPD (and other police agency) intelligence ops in the 1970's.
