hmmm, i hear complaints about OS X and i hear complaints about windows xp, me, etc. some mac users are not happy with os x as it is too "windows-like." many have gone back to OS 9. of course, there are always complaints about windows me, win 2000, etc. ( i work for a help desk)

The new Windows XP pales in comparison to Mac X. The graphics in XP are still tinker-toy looking and cheesey.

Yo, Bushy, but you are not implying that Gates invented multitasking, are you? Multitasking was from AT&T labs - late 60's I think, and you'd have to credit Gary Kildall and DRI with preemptive multitasking.

Ditto here, and mine runs continuously (unless the power goes out) without crashing.

Same here, too! Using Windows 98 since...well, since 98! I've had it crash exactly twice! Both times were when I loaded some, shall we say, "questionable" software. Took that off, fired back up, and away we go!

Of course not. But I am saying that Apple -- considered an innovator by many of its mind-numbed followers -- didn't bother to incorporate these advances decades after they were shown to be effective.

One of the software tools I use is Maya. (So does George Lucas, btw). Maya runs on OS X - that's it.

I've got nothing against Macs, but...come on, chief. Only runs on OSX? That'll be a big surprise to the Alias/Wavefront folks...

Well, as a software engineer, I do most of my work in an editor or at a command line ... so I could give a rat's ass about your Aqua GUI. As for the rest of Windows users, the fact of the matter is that the Mac had some advantages when it was competing against a plain DOS console but not now. Most users could care less that it takes 2.5 extra mouse clicks to do a particular task. Or that a particular set of skins look nicer. That's eye candy. Poof! It's no more signficant than the color of the car they drove a decade ago.
