Only 11 nuclear bombs to 'take out' Canada
The Ottawa Citizen ^ | 7 January 2002 | David Pugliese

Computer simulation aims to raise questions about huge stockpiles of nuclear warheads.

A new computer program developed for nuclear weapons researchers in the U.S. probably won't give Canadians much of a sense of security in these days of global tension and uncertainty. The software simulated the destruction of Canada with as few as 11 nuclear warheads.

There are moose in Canadia...and probably cheeses, too.

My suggestion is to sell or not buy the nukes in the first place...and just buy the place.

Anyway, beside saying dumb things, what has Canadia actually done lately? I know they make and ship beer, bacon and maple surple...but done? You jest.

I'd be more interested in knowing how many to do the number on Mexico. ;-)

Hey folks, be careful now. You might get us mad. Last time we fought we burned down your President's house.

If you start up on us again we might be forced to fire up our tank. ;-)

I have spent the past four hours looking at maps of Africa and the subcontinent. I got maps from 1880's and its not there. I know Indians live there, but where?

Where's Canada?

La Canada is a small burb just north of El Lay, near Pasadena.

Not disagreeing with you at all. I was strictly referring to the 11 nukes in Canada! :) In an all out war with thousands of warheads and second-strike capability, we would be in a bit of a mess.

,,, the French have been taking people out of French Polynesia to Paris for cancer treatment for years now. They knew their bombs worked but continued testing, smashing atolls and poisoning fish and people. Consequently, I won't do Tahiti, New Caledonia or anywhere in the Pacific as a holiday destination, even though they're just a few hours away.

Like I said, if England had not been distracted by Continental misadventures, we probably would have lost our independence

IF is a fun game, but means NOTHING. You could IF every war there ever was.

I suspect you'd have to drop one in southern California, and perhaps another in Mexico near the US border. That would about do it.

11 nukes in Australia would kill between 75-85% of the total population in the country and leave the entire continent up for grabs. Including 30% of the world's Uranium. Right next door to the world's largest Muslim country.

I certainly hope that never happens!!

Please do not nuke Canada, it’s a perfectly nice place. I do think however that we should offer to trade them for the western provinces and the Northwest Territories. We could give them New England, and a state to be named later!

There is no way 11 warheads could take out 25% of the Canadian population. Yet another study by the fear mongering MAD adherants. Their goal is not to prevent the Western civilized nations from getting nuked. Their goal is to prevent Western nations from ever using nukes on anyone else. So long as we are "afraid" of "the end of the world" in the event that we ever use any nukes again, then we never will think about it. MAD is being used against us, to tie our hands and to keep the US from engaging in any great powers conflicts. The only question, was Carl Sagan only a useful idiot, or did he have "friends" who want to destroy the USA when the time is ripe?
