Isnt 10:00 PM when Greta Van OJ is doing her show on Fox? At least Alan will have some weak competition. And he is going to need weak competition. While I am a big Alan Keyes fan, still having a Bush/Keyes 2000 bumper sticker in my cube at work and Alan Keyes campaign buttons as well I do not think he nor his temperment is made for being a talking head show host. I wish him the best and hope I am wrong.

I hear your points, but remember that MSNBC is basically serving a niche market, and so doesn't need to attract every soccer mom for this show to be a success. There are going to be a segment(especially among independents) that will love the straight direct conversation, even if a bit shrill. And my guess is that a significant portion of the hard-core right(in the BEST sense of that phrase) will also be attracted.

Of course it all depends on content. If all he does is bash Bush, then el sinko. But I give him more credit than that, think it will be balanced. It won't be O'Reilly, but ratings will be solid.

I told Richard Ferrier (rdf) to counsel Keyes to let the other guy edge in with have a word or two, and perhaps even finish a sentence, so I suspect all will be well. Not to worry. :)

When my 4yr old daughter was born, I got the middle of the night feedings and that's where I first saw a lot of Alan Keyes. His morning radio show was rebroadcast on America's Voice and his demeanor was a lot smoother than his appearances on the cable "head" shows. I couldn't get enough, even after my little girl fell back to sleep I would stay up and finish watching his show.

I think the show will do well, he won't be fighting for a word like he has to now on these shows, which makes him seen abrasive. When he has filled in for O'Reilly he has done quite well. I don't think there is anybody as quick on his feet other than Dr Keyes.

I think Keyes will beat that Van nut lady, look at Fox news base audience. Do you think they'll stay there with her or move the dial to see Keyes?

Hiya, Phantom! Please see post #102 for more on the show's format. This is not going to be your typical talking head show!

Folks are used to seeing Dr. Keyes of late in a combative situation as a guest on these shows. If you've ever seen him guest host O'Reilly, you'll know that he has a great delivery and demeanor. He makes a great host -- yet this show will not be like O'Reilly's show. This one is fashioned by Dr. Keyes. MSNBC has given him complete control over content on this live show. He has the complete freedom to be himself!

Regards.
