If you would simply change the name in your paragraph from 'Keyes' to 'Bush' you would be alot closer to getting to the core of what is a very old fight around here.
The people you have chosen to ally yourself with on this thread have a long history of torching anyone who is the least bit critical of the President...even if it is a disagreement over policy.
You admit you haven't been here...but you fail to see that maybe you don't understand the dynamics of what is going on here.
Much to their chagrin, Alan Keyes turns a lot of people off no matter what. Obnoxiousness generally saturates one's personality and is rarely exclusive to one given set of circumstances. I've noticed that his smug demeanor is always present.
Did you type that while looking at yourself in the mirror??
You may have noticed that I don't worry much about who knows me, likes me, or anything of that nature. I'm pretty comfortable with myself. I'm just here to discuss politics with people, and not much more than that.
It's certainly an admirable thing to defend your friends when you feel they're right, EV; it's also an admirable thing to be able to reasonably consider someone else's points before rejecting them out of hand. Maybe Dan has a point worth considering. There is a certain "Jim Jones" feel to some of this stuff, from where I sit. Is there one of you who could name something you see as an area of weakness in Alan Keyes? I haven't heard it yet. (Although some people who seem borderline have agreed that his ego is out of control.) How about you? Is there anything about him you feel could be changed or improved?
Later.
For the record, EV has no problem trashing Dan who is definitely a very fine Christian man; unlike the vague faceless thousands to which he refers. BTW....most people in this forum are Christians and I'll leave it to Jesus to determine fine versus whatever. Judge not, EV !!!!!!!
I learned long ago; never give your enemies the bullets to kill you with.
Now, I must go til later....I have an engagement.
As long as you admit them to yourself, I can't ask for more than that, I guess.
EV, Christian to Christian, you sure lash out personally at people (#664 is a perfect example). Quite sincerely: How do you justify getting personal with people, but criticizing Dan for what YOU feel is a personal assault against your "friends"?
Not to be disruptive (gasp!), but if you want to have a private conversation with Dan, why do it publicly?
Talk to you later, EV.
It is. I guess some people like it. Some people don't. Saying you don't seems to be akin to suggesting someone's mother is a streetwalker in this neighborhood. Lucky Alan Keyes - his protectors are certainly fierce, if nothing else.
This reminds me of an old Three Stooges episode in which the Stooges were Dental students. At the graduation ceremony, the Dean said that for the most part he was very pleased with the vast majority students--except for a certain few that were so lazy, stupid, and incompetent "I won't embarass them by mentioning their names!", at which point Moe, Larry and Shemp rush up to the front and shake the Dean's hand thanking him and telling him he's a swell guy!
:-D
BTW, I never said, "Wha..? or Whoa...? Bush??" nor did I ever deny I was referring to him. I did deny I ever mentioned his name for the reasons you cite. Someone was howling about how my tactful post about the irrelevance of college misconduct was a personal attack against Bush. So I pointed out that I avoided mentioning Bush's name.
In a shocking and sneaky "post and run" maneuver last night, "Rowdee" referred to DAVID HOROWITZ as a "lefty." But no one will be fooled. All true conservatives are very familiar with DAVID HOROWITZ and his website Frontpagemag.com. and know that Mr. Horowitz saved our country last year as one of the chief engineers of George W. Bushs "compassionate conservative" crusade. He and his website, Frontpagemag.com are now ensuring that America will be a Christian conservative society for at least the next century.
Until now, most Americans have been forced to watch our country and its culture drift further and further to the left. Not knowing the true reasons for this degeneration, we have felt helpless to stop it. We have wasted our time and our money supporting political candidates who have cynically sold us false promises about their ability to restore true American values. Now, after years of investigation and with precious little time to spare, DAVID HOROWITZ has finally found the ACTUAL SOURCE of this foul tide. Armed with irrefutable proof, he has exposed the CONSERVATIVE HOLOCAUST that has until now been secreted behind the tall, ivy-covered walls of academia.
Freepers, I personally urge you to support Mr. Horowitz's campaign in every way possible. Forget the politicians. Instead, speak to your neighbors. Form committees. Demand to see what is actually written in the textbooks given to our kids. Write letters demanding protection for conservative students and faculty. Show up at David's campaign stops. Visit Frontpagemag.com. Finally, and most importantly, I urge you to immediately send David as much money as you possibly can to save our Christian conservative values from extinction. And please, FReepers, DIG DEEP because this is no time for half measures.
With David's leadership, we can and we will DEFEAT INTELLECTUAL TERRORISM and save our country from the evils of FULL BLOWN SOCIALISM.
Thank you, America, LET'S ROLL!
And Rowdee, please don't post a response until you have had a chance to pray on the matter. I will be praying for you. Bless you.
That's pretty much it. Really big of you to avoid mentioning the name "Bush" while talking about "secret societies" and drinking. (Sorry, but this is a world-class eye-roller.)
His backtracking and spinning didn't even come close to the mea culpa he owes a lot of good people for his slander.
I also did not see anything that Dan needed to apologize for. Once again.......seen and interpreted differently by different eyes.
Making mountains out of mole hills accomplishes nothing but to make more mountains.
