WASHINGTON (CNN) --A day after President Bush threw down the gauntlet in defense of his tax cut program, his economic team fanned out on the Sunday talk shows to make it clear that the White House won't agree to delay or defer the $1.35 billion in tax cuts approved last year.

"But one leading Senate Democrat, Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Connecticut, said Sunday that he believes it is short-sighted for the administration to refuse to revisit the tax cut package, saying "we've got to put everything on the table."

For someone who wants to "put everything on the table" I have never in my life heard Sen. Lieberman suggest spending cuts. That's an option that Dems will never consider. Everyone else in the world has to go on a budget and cut spending when money gets tight, but no, not the federal Govt. In fact, they generally suggest spending MORE money. Go figure.

Right on the money (pun intended!). Why do the Democrats, time after time, underestimate Pres. Bush, and guess wrong about what his moves will be? The words of our President echo in my mind: "We're facing something familiar, they're facing something new." Indeed.

Good one John. Did you see McCain yesterday "bragging" how he had voted against the tax cut specifically for the reason Daschle was talking about. The man is an embarrassment.

Thanks, friend.

The man is an embarrassment.

A total embarrassment, amigo. Between him and Al Gore, it's hard to decide who's the bigger sore loser.

I noticed Russert didn't ask McCain how Bush managed to rout the Taliban and Al Qaeda without inserting tens of thousands of ground forces although he was sure to ask one note Johnny about his precious campaign finance crap.

As I watched MTP yesterday, I was thinking along the same lines.

Senator Obstruction Perfect description!

Brit Hume also expressed wonder at the absurd economic premise of Daschle.

Good evaluation. Unfortunately, we have a plethora of libertarian "Boo-Birds" who will flame the heck out of you for raining on their parade.

People underestimate our President at their extreme peril. Senator Short-Round discovered this fact this weekend. Dispite his position as leader of the Senate "majority", his still fails to measure up to the job. He is becoming the 12th player on the Republican Team.

"I think it's wrong for anyone -- the president or any one of us -- to say anything is off the table as we try to get our economy going again," Lieberman said on "Meet The Press". "I think we're going to have a terrible year ahead in Congress if any of the leading parties say, 'No, under no circumstances will I do that.'"

Anyone else besides me notice that whenever reading a quote from Lieberman, you hear it stated in a high-pitched, annoyingly whining voice?

Excellent point of view you're always on the mark. Everytime the President comes back from the "ranch" he's rested and rarin to go. It's great to have a REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT who will ANSWER the dribble coming from the democrats.
