Yesterday it was being said that there was no evidence of a connection to terrorism. At the time the statement was made, that was true. My understanding is that this note wasn't found until today.

Would it be better if every time anything happens, the government and the media all start screaming "terrorism" at the top of their voices until evidence proves it's not?

[shrugs] When a country is at war, yes. When a country is at war, and when a country has already suffered at least four attacks by airplanes, and then you see an airplane sticking out of the side of a sky scraper, yes, you should start screaming "terrorism" until you have evidence that it is not.

Better safe than sorry. (An event like yesterday could easily have been a _signal_ which bin Laden could have used as a national trigger -- knowing it would receive national real time media hype -- to kick off other domestic cells into big time action. In fact, that still might be what was going on...)

Under conditions such as we're in, it's only logical to make "terrorism" the default choice. In times of peace it makes sense to default to accident theories. But in war situations, it makes sense to assume enemy action.

No, it would be better if they simply kept their mouths shut until the evidence is in! I don't appreciate being lied to...we had enough of that with the Clinton Administration!
