Russia's lower house of parliament last month ratified a groundbreaking friendship treaty with China

Someday they will figure out that their fortunes and destiny lie with the west. They have no place in a Chinese world and just look foolish for thinking they do.

If the CCP takes Taiwan ever, even by peaceful means, the same thing that happened to Hong Kong will happen to Taiwan... massive brain drain.

Everyone and his brother with money to invest moved to Australia, Canada, or the USA...

They still might operate in Hong Kong or wherever, but they have their parachutes ready and in place.

I guess Russia is cashing in on the war on terror... that is on arming those supporting terror, showing them how US forces can defeat them, giving them weapons to counter US superiority via assymertic Achille's heel systems.

Remember, every chineeeeeze wrench, umbrella, computer, etc. that you buy only helps them buy more weapons to throw at us.

Yes, the Russian navy is well-known for it's cutting-edge technology. Like the Kursk. This is red Chinese sabre-rattling of a low order, and it won't work.

Not a major concern..even if the "Sovremenny" class DD's are upgraded..what really are the Soviets giving them in comparrison to a U.S. "Arleigh Burke DD".

Tom Clancy is correct...China will not be a global superpower..for she cannot field a Navy of Global reach.

Modern combat at sea or networked with inter air, inter land battle management requires complex electronic networking...over the Horizon technology...Satillite uplink...information assimilation and computer targetting on wide scale.

Neither the Soviets..nor the Chinese stride in regal splendor here....decades behind they are...their choices in weapons assetes display temporal power..landlocked at best.

Financially they can not keep up...missmanagement of finances..resources and government descision making based on Mental fantasys and Insecurity now catch up with them.

Both do sell weapons via export...maybe ask the Arabs..just how good their product really is.

If Russian worksmanship means these Sovremennys will be built like Aeroflot jets or the old Soviet railroad cars we have little to worry about.

But I say sell some Perrys and Spruances to Taiwan to see the old Red bastards in Beijing sweat.
