i have spent the last hour or so trying to find a comprehensive listing of ocean going shipping losses and have come up dry. Lloyds of London once kept a list but it is no longer available on line. I did find a shipwreck resource that kept a database of over 7000 ships lost in the last 400 years. It was alphabetical by ships name rather than chronological. The site did mention that it contained information on 998 TANKER wrecks. Assuming Ta nkers have only been used in the past 75 years, and assuming even distribution (obviously ignoring little items like WWII) then there have been about 13 per year... or 230 tanker losses in 20 years.
