It's called idealism, Howlin.
Expecting the best of people,
without any evidence.

carenot knew that Bush avoided
giving any opinion about abortion,
or Clinton, or virtually any other topic.
That's why she didn't trust him.

Hope is a different animal, though.
Even though she didn't really believe
that Bush would uphold the law,
or any other of the topics he avoided,
she still hoped to be proven wrong.

I hope to be proven wrong too.
