Not that again. Please, Bill send me all of your "ain't money." I will dispose of it properly.

It is "legal tender" -- NOT money and the ramifications of that distinction are far-reaching and mind-boggling! Don't have time to explain it, but if you're ever interested I'll refer you to a source.

Bill, about 800 Jillion people believe that it is money. When a thief says "Give Me All Your Money!," he is referring to that. He wants the accepted medium of exchange, not a dusty definition from ancient and very unread texts. If you don't believe me, set your clock for 1AM. Go to the inner city of your choice. Flash a wad of "legal tender" in one hand and a definition of "money" in the other. Good luck. You will not suffer a total loss. I'm betting that you get to keep the definition of "money."
