Bill O'Reilly blasts Ashcroft and Reno for Corruption
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | January 4, 2002 | Bill O'Reilly

Posted on 01/04/2002 8:52:30 AM PST by editor-surveyor

There is something very wrong inside the Justice Department of the United States and there has been for some time.

Various newspapers are now reporting that under President Clinton, the Federal Bureau of Investigation was ordered to stand down on various terrorist investigations.

One of the most egregious examples is the failure of the bureau to investigate fundraising organizations like "The Holy Land Fund," based in Arizona, which allegedly funneled millions of dollars in donations to Middle Eastern terrorists.

Although the Bush administration has now frozen the assets of the fund, it was apparently allowed to operate for 8 years despite the FBI intelligence that was presented to Mr. Clinton and then-Attorney General Janet Reno. One bureau source told the press that Ms. Reno felt any investigation of "The Holy Land Fund" would lead to anti-Arab sentiment and therefore was opposed to such an investigation.

As always, Ms. Reno will not comment on any aspect of her tenure as attorney general that is at all controversial.

There is no question now that under Ms. Reno and then-FBI Director Louis Freeh, Americans were put at great risk. The Wen Ho Lee-Chinese espionage case still has not been explained, and the fact that the 19 Sept. 11 terrorists weren't even on the FBI's radar screen is about as frightening as Janet Reno's passion for political correctness.

The current attorney general, John Ashcroft, has made no attempt to examine Ms. Reno's bizarre behavior or update the public about the Marc Rich investigation or anything else. Mr. Ashcroft specializes in looking dour and stonewalling. While Congress is attempting to get documents about President Clinton's dubious foreign fundraising and FBI abuses in Boston, Ashcroft is refusing to cooperate at all.

And this isn't a political issue. Conservative Congressman Dan Burton and liberal Congressman Barney Frank have actually joined forces to try and pry this information from Ashcroft's hands. If that's not amazing, then nothing is.

The truth is that for nearly 8 years, the Justice Department has been corrupt and inefficient. Janet Reno botched nearly every important decision she had to make including Waco and Elian Gonzalez. Time after time, Ms. Reno refused to approve investigative initiatives sought by the FBI. And time after time, Mr. Freeh sat in his plush government office refusing to let the American people know what was happening.

Now Mr. Ashcroft is doing the same thing. There is no reason on this earth why the public should not know the status of the Rich pardon probe. Or the anthrax investigation. And what about Enron, Mr. Attorney General – are you going to look into that? Millions of Americans were hosed while some Enron executives made millions.

How about a comment on that, Mr. Ashcroft?

Here is the whole article.

he was what I wished for the whole time we had the insane one in Office a normal decent President

palo, how can a "normal decent President" be one who does not carry out the law? That doesn't make sense.

Don't get huffy with others because they don't cater to your lunatic desire to be superwoman. I suppose you insult your guest by not giving them our undivided attention.

If I went over board I apolize .. and no I do not expect for people to cater to me

As for the Superwomen .. I'm still working on that title

If anything will change our world in the next 3 years, it will the sustained War on Terrorism.Clinton is old news, and if Bush gets in in '04, which I would think is a high probablity, as he has trustworthiness and broad likeablity.Bush is the story now, and Clinton's corruption is getting revealed over his handling of Osama, as well, so events have a way of making Slick's malfeasance in so many areas become all the more glaring.

Admin Moderator, this person, Letitring,
has told yet another Freeper "don't talk to me,"
for the third time, on the same thread.

She told me "Are you talking to me? Don't."
and then both directly responded to my posts,
and ridiculed me to other Freepers,
and then pushed the "Abuse" button when I responded to her.
I was told by you to leave her alone.

Then she responded to a post I made,
and misquoted me in a way that I felt
I had to defend both myself and another Freeper.
I called your attention to that at the time.

Then she told palo verde to stop talking to her,
and even though palo verde didn't post a reply to her,
Letitring posted another reply to palo verde.

Then Letitring told malador to stop talking to her,
and then she responded to a post he made.

Admin Moderator, would you please ask Letitring to stay off of this thread?
She's doing the same thing she pushed the "Abuse button" on me for.

Dear Self-Proclaimed Ignorance Monitor sorry, you just made that one, toooo easy

You know, I could be wrong but I think that everytime you addressed a post to her, it pinged her. Could that be why she kept coming back here ? I think that is the way it works. Frankly, I don't blame her, you weren't very nice to her. Did it ever occur to you that she certainly could have used more than 2 cells but those 2 kept you sputtering and pinging all day long. Why use more ?

Good grief, the diehards on this thread have said the same old dreary things repeatedly for 2 or 3 days running. If it doesn't pick up soon, somebody out to shut this puppy down and move on to the benediction.

Those of us on this thread WANT to be on the thread, Darlin'.
Anybody who's tired of the thread has memorized the title by now,
and should have enough sense to stop coming back.

this is the first election where the youth voted conservative rather than liberal

This is where my perspective parts company with most people. To me, voting Republican (which I did) is not voting conservative. It is voting liberal, albeit less liberal, than the Democrats. My operational definition of a conservative has little in common with the Republican Party.

Exactly, catpuppy.

Bush doesn't enforce the law he's sworn to uphold,
and no decent President would do that.

Gentlemen, May I please refer you to post # 1347 ?

exodus, please correct me if I am wrong but doesn't Freeper etiquette required you to ping the Freeper you are talkng about, to let them know you are talking about them ? Isn't it consider very bad form to do otherwise ?

Forgive me for being an optimist, I keep hoping some of you will stop beating a dead horse and say something fresh, interesting or informative. Instead it is something akin to a mantra.

Darlin', I consider it "bad form" to make a point,
and then tell the person you're talking to, "shut up"
when they try to answer you.

I wasn't talking about what you consider bad form, I was referring to standard FReeper posting etiquette.

But we have, Darlin'.
Today, for new topics we've talked of jury, Grand Jury,
the duties and powers of those two,
and where the honorable man who lives at 1600 is hiding.

Here's a new, fresh topic for you.
Gail Norton is not doing her job,
and should either stop infringing on the rights of our farmers,
or be fired for incompetence.

Do you want me to tell you who Gail Norton is?
