Reminds me of a scheme a friend and I cooked up in college. I read that the old WW2 carrier Enterprise had been sold for scrap for $450,000. We cooked up a scheme to buy another old carrier, anchor it in the Carribean, declare independance and turn it into a resort. We figured we could declare war on the US then immediately surrender and apply for financial aid. We were going to name it Sodom figuring that if the plan worked we could do it again calling the second one Gomorrah.

"Freedom Ship will have space for 17,000 resident families, up to 20,000 daily visitors and 3,000 commercial enterprises, including banks, restaurants, grocery stores, and video-rental places."
Yes, but what I want to know is will they have a piggly wiggly?
To: Travis McGee
Like any land-based city, the ship will also have its own police force and jail. Gooch said the security team will number 2,000, meaning there will be one cop for every 10 residents. But, after Sept. 11, Nixon and Gooch said, the residents will be glad to know they're safe. One cop for every ten residents. Greeeeeat.
Can we just toss in a contingent of BATF and FBI-HRT, just to make sure this thing burns to the waterline?

Piggly Wiggly was one of the most repulsive grocery stores I have ever seen, save Win-Dixie, where the produce was actually slimey and brown and decaying.
I showed the Manager the decaying produce. His response to me? "Well, you shore don't want t' be buying that, now do ya."

Or maybe they just have a lot of ethnic restaurants. They didn't actually say you would have those foods because you were in those cities.

The scammers who dreamed up this hoax have a "giant space station" version for gullible Art Bell fans.
Just send your money order to the "virtual shipyard" in Costa Rica and take a number.
But don't pack your bags yet.
To: finnman69
I hope nobody mentions that stuff about; "God Himself couldn't sink her" A la the Titanic.

Many fine comments already posted above - a obvious terrorist target being #1.
But would YOU want to live in a place that thinks it'll need one cop for every 10 residents? Sounds worse than the projects to me. As long as they can choose their population, wouldn't you think they'd screen out the lowlifes and crooks to save money on cops?
My little town has about one cop for every 1,000 residents. And crooks don't have to swim to get here.
And just how is it surrounded by a marina? Does it tow hundreds of small boats behind it when on the move?
Great idea, lousy concept.
To: abwehr
"Terrorist fears are probably way overblown for no al Qaeda or IRA would have any reason for attacking a such a ship."
And their reason for attacking the WTC was? If it's there, and it's big, and it's Western, these fanatics will want to take it down.
To: Lazamataz
I have an inside contact right at the top, send you money order to me and I will guarantee that you are moved to the head of the boarding list on the Giant Space Station.

For a moment there I thought I was reading the latest from Bruce McCall of
RMS Tyrannic fame.

We spent a few days in November going to the Seven Seas Cruising Association conference in Melbourne, Florida, as we did last year. Hard-core liveaboards and liveaboard wannabes. I can't wait to sell the house, dump most of what's in it, put the rest on board & take off.

Funny to see this post for last night I was checking this sight......ResidenSea.com
If you have 2,000,000.00 or up and 5,000.00 a month or up for maintenance fees you're ready to sail the High Seas now! Quite impressive, check out the condos and drooooool! ;-)

An ocean based BABYLON 5. What nations will play the parts of the different races?

Go to the Forum on post 4. This ship has been talked about for about 2 years. Most people there have stopped posting because they figure that's its a scam. They have already discussed most of the problems brought up on this thread.
