Regarding the year 88 and Kristol running Keyes campaign....Keyes wasn't involved with campaigning before that was he? This was his first campaign? It was my understanding that this is the case....and that the GOP had asked him to step forward as a candidate because the original guy had backed out or quit....I would suspect that the GOP would have offered up the services of Kristol or somebody with experience to help get him off the ground.
That's what I was getting at....certainly sounds more plausible than some secret conspiracy between Kristol and Keyes to do in the Republican President!

On the other hand, when you also know that they were college roomates, you might think they were closely tied. On this thread, people have been trying to put a lot of distance between Keyes and Kristol
