PAGE SIX/Lock & loaded (Keyes MSNBC Show?)

THE folks at Msnbc are talking to former Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Alan Keyes about hosting a 10 p.m. show up against Fox News' new hire, Greta Van Susteren. Meanwhile, Van Susteren, a lawyer before her O.J. Simpson commentary turned her into a CNN star, reportedly has penned an eight-page memo detailing CNN's demerits. She plans to keep the document secret as long as CNN doesn't try to paint her as an ungrateful traitor.

You are right. I got them mixed up. And thanks for at least being civil in the correction.

Saw this earlier on Lucianne.com! I don't watch MSNBC and looks like that trend will continue. Personally I prefer to read my news as those talking head shows drive me up the wall. Keyes against Greta -- I pick nothing or CNN! Who would have thought that six months ago I would pick CNN if I watched anything!

I just don't think I am intelligent enough to understand what keyes is saying since he is so much smarter than the rest of us as we keep getting told. Wonder if klayman will be one of his first guests?

Oh, now that would be interesting. The only two people in the world who think they are relevant on the same set at the same time.

Well, I spend entirely too much time with the TV on, so this will be a good incentive for me to get back to READING! (I might tune in Greta one night to see how well the Fox make-up people do with her...they are the best in the business, IMHO. If you don't believe me, look how bad Paula Zahn looks now that she is on CNN! HA!)

PREDICTION: One of the first guests on Dr. Keyes's show will be Bill Kristol, balanced with Joe Conason. They will chuckle and chortle over President Bush's dimwitedness . The following night will be Arianna Huffington, balanced with Gene Lyons. Third night will be "investigative" with Larry.

I expect kudos if I am close to accurate. HA!

I haven't seen him in this sort of position before. I hope he's as good a host as he is a debator. Cable@msnbc.com appears to be the address to Freep.

Whatever happened to Keyes's radio show?

Thanks Miss Marple for the heads up. C-Span indeed is funded by the cable companies. How come I don't feel any better about that?

In view of some of the posts on this thread, I thought you'd like to hear an old wise saying on the matter of calumny: "Calumnies are best answered with silence." -Ben Johnson, Volpone

Cheers,

You don't feel any better about it because they give the illusion of being public service, but as we have seen over the last 2 years they have been controlled by the agendas of the Clintons, via the big cable companies who are mostly supporters. I am wondering if Ailes is trying to head off a charge of bias by cable operators as an excuse to drop his network. (I have no proof or even a hint of this, just random speculation.)

Local operators make the decisions of who to carry, for the most part. Push QVC or Home Shopping. At least those are market oriented capitalism. LOL!

I think Brian Lamb has been blackmailed or brainwashed. JMHO.

..because nobody wants to listen to his bombastic verbose talk about himself.

The most factless statement made on the forum today. Congrats.

Now, that's your opinion, just as that assertion is mine. We shall see how well he does, IF this is true.

Alan Keyes is one of the most effective conservative speakers that I've ever heard.

Which is probably why the people at Fox haven't offered him a job. He's too effective. I don't think Keyes takes direction too well. He's his own man. I see this as a good thing; I'm not sure that anyone at Fox does.

I think he has more morality than the whole of Washington, DC. And he comes with NO baggage.

As fas as Washington, D.C. is concerned, his surplus of morality is his baggage.

Whatever happened to Keyes's radio show?

Dr. Keyes gave it up to avoid impropriety during the 2000 election. He has kept himself free from most media commitments since Nov. of 2000, turning down most invitations. Perhaps he was looking ahead to this offer, if it is sealed, as I hope it will be. I am not in the know about his personal finances, nor do I wish to be.

Best to you,

Richard F.
