I was born yesterday, so could someone explain: 1.)Why does pro-life always end with birth? I haven't seen any pro-life anguish over the women, children, and unborns dying in Afghanistan. 2.)Why are there no funerals or rites for miscarried babies? Is the unborn baby dead only if we abort it? 3.)Why is this is the thread I have ever seen here that is concerned about minorities?

I was born yesterday, so could someone explain:

I'll try, but no promises.

1.)Why does pro-life always end with birth?

Look a little harder. The pro-life camp is also against euthanasia. Also, it's the pro-life who are manning the food pantries, homeless shelters, prison ministries, etc. Don't forget about all those services I wrote about earlier supporting young mothers and their children. The pro-life are very pro-life. However, politically pro-life really means anti-abortion. THey are still pro-life, but they don't use that name for the other works.

I haven't seen any pro-life anguish over the women, children, and unborns dying in Afghanistan.

Who do you think has been over there ministering to them for the last 20 years? Even our president will mourn the death of every one killed by a U.S. weapon. He will tell the country, "Fortunes of war and all that sort of rot." but he will cry for them. We all do.

2.)Why are there no funerals or rites for miscarried babies? Is the unborn baby dead only if we abort it?

There are some. I wish I had known about them when my second child spontaneously aborted. My wife and I both needed one. They are only recently coming in to their own. I think it's a cultural thing. My mother told my wife, "Hey, miscarriages happen. I've had several, my mom had several. Get up out of your chair and fix me a sandwich!" It didn't do much for my mother's relationship with my wife.

3.)Why is this is the [only] thread I have ever seen here that is concerned about minorities?

Because you don't look hard enough? Because you don't know how to use the search engine? I don't know. There was a thread I saw just yesterday defending Kwanzaa.

Shalom.

Welcome born-yesterday Brucey,

Your tired tactic is apparent to us all.

1. The Catholic Church (the most pro-life entity in the world) provides more humanitarian assistance than any other private entity. It goes to babies, refugees, druggies, AIDS patients, the homeless, etc. Please don't post non-sense when the facts are so clucking obvious.

2. There are many many funerals for stillborn or miscarried babies- and there should be more. Just because you have not seen them does not mean they don't happen. These are generally private affairs. Also, ask a priest how many times he gets asked to baptize or give last rites to babies who never make out of the delivery room alive. It happens all the time.

3. I AAAALWAYS bring up the racism of abortion and its proponents. As do most others who rail against the evil, mis-named purveyors of death known as planned parenthood.

If you really are just ill-infomred (hard to believe) then I apologize for any sarcasm.

This is a project I helped found. Most of the women who we help have been low-income and non-white. The angels (volunteers) form longlasting realtionships with these families. This is EXTREMELY typical of pro-life Catholic outreach. You seem to forget that those of us praying in front of the death camps (planned parenthood) are not getting anything in return for doing so - we do it out of true love and that love could not possibily end at a baby's birth. But what more could you give to a child (or hismother) than his very life? You need to get out more and stop buying the crap you see int he paper or the the tv about pro-lifers. The one-in-a-million wackos make the headlines. The rest of us spend most of our time loving other people - which rarely gets covered.

Project Gabriel provides practical help to women who otherwise might not choose life for their unborn baby.

Help comes in the
form of a Gabriel Angel who supports the mother’s choice for life through prayer, ongoing friendship and encouragement, and referrals to community/government resources.

Mothers voluntarily requesting a Gabriel Angel are referred from local Christian crisis pregnancy programs, birth line programs, and maternity homes; community/governmental agencies and The Gabriel Project’s hotlines in English (877-734-2444) and Spanish (800-7200-4570).

BECOME A GABRIEL ANGEL

As a Gabriel Angel you will bring hope, comfort, and friendship to a woman in your community during her pregnancy. Your support witnesses to the value of both the unborn child and the mother who chooses life for her child.

Call Eileen Hartman, Director, The Gabriel Project of Indiana, at 812-342-9550, or e-mail at the address above to register for a training session.

1.)Why does pro-life always end with birth?

It rarely does. ALL--not some, all--of my pro-life friends focus more on the child's welfare AFTER birth, primarily because (at least in this area) there is a great network of well established unplanned/crisis pregnancy facilities. Several of us mentor new mothers who live at these facilities before they are able to make it into their own places, and we continue to work with them after that happens. Donations of durable goods (cribs, car seats, infant baths, etc) as well as financial support are very often made directly to the mothers and their babies, as many of these women are ashamed to accept federal and state funded aid. We make sure that these women are aware that health care for children is FREE in Michigan for qualifying families. Do you want me to go on? Just because we don't crow and pat ourselves on the back does not mean that important work is not being done.

2.)Why are there no funerals or rites for miscarried babies? Is the unborn baby dead only if we abort it?

Since when are there no funeral rites offered to mothers who have miscvarried??? I had two miscarriages before I was able to carry a baby to term, and in BOTH instances a priest offered services for the preborn soul. I am quite certain that Catholics are not the only ones who offer these rites. When miscarriage occurs late in pregnancy or in the case of stillbirth, more often than not the baby is given a true burial. Don't believe me? Stop by ANY graveyard and ask to be directed to what is usually called "The Garden of Angels." You would be surprised at how many of the headstones contain a single date.

3.)Why is this is the thread I have ever seen here that is concerned about minorities?

I assume that you meant "Why is this the FIRST yadda yadda yadda...minorities?" To this I can only answer that you are a newbie and see only what you want to see.
