Even though I voted that all details are literally true, it is important to note that some Biblical language is figurative. For example, when Jesus says "I am the door..." he is not saying that he is made out of wood!

The Babble is filled with literally hundreds of contradictions, absurdities, and atrocities.

Really? a $10,000.00 reward was once offered to anyone who could prove a mistake in the Bible. The reward was never collected.

Better be careful... if the Bible says that he was made out of wood you better believe it literaly. To do otherwise means you're an atheist. Lol!!!!!

I also voted that way..but there is much figurative language in Scripture. I looked at it as the facts presented are literally true. The word of God is without error..it say exactly what God intends it to say. :>)

The Bible is only as accurate as the people that wrote it. "God is not the author of confusion", but why are there so many contradictions? The geneologies of Jesus in Matthew and Luke are not the same, which one is correct.

The fact is a bunch of men decided what was scripture and what was not. Once they had their canon they proceeded to burn, bannish, and destroy all other writings.

God's word is "TRUTH" and truth can be found in many places other than the Bible. Mathmatics is used to present truth, as well as geometry, and science in general. In ancient times myths were not lies, but were used to unveil spiritual truth. Something we have long forgotten.

The Bible is really myth, and allegories revealling deep spiritual truth. Getting muddled in literalism and condemnation for all who don't agree is nothing more than the devil spreading lies and confusion. God did not intend for his word to be interpreted only by those with degrees in theology. God is not sitting on his throne waiting to condemn all who don't conform to the literalist view of the Bible.

Jesus said, "The Kingdom of Heaven is within you!"

"The geneologies of Jesus in Matthew and Luke are not the same, which one is correct."

Both.

There are two geneologies due to the fact that the Holy Spirit guided the Gospel writers to include the blood lineage of Jesus from his mother, Mary, as well as His legal lineage from his earthly father, Joseph. Both lines show descent from King David.

"God is not sitting on his throne waiting to condemn all who don't conform to the literalist view of the Bible."

No, instead God is sitting on His throne waiting to condemn all those who do not have their names recorded in the Lamb's Book of Life.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. - Ephesians 1:3-14

OK your right, I must be dealing with a KJV literalist here. Is not heaven the kingdom of God?

KJV

Luke 17: 20-21
And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

"Jesus said, "The Kingdom of Heaven is within you!"

Hmmm, it appears that Jesus uttered the phrase "the Kingdom of Heaven" 32 times as recorded in the Gospels, but not once did He say that it was "in you".

He did say, several times, "The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand", and on more than one occassion He prefaced this statement with the word "repent".

Honestly, the "Kingdom of God" and the "Kingdom of Heaven" while seemingly the same are two slightly different entities.

Look at the context of Luke 17 to see if this isn't so.

I guess you assume my name is not written in the Lamb's Book of Life. The passage you quote Ephesians 1:3-14 is a message of Love and Peace not condemnation.

Your assumption would be incorrect. Only God knows the composition of His elect. As C.H. Spurgeon once said "If God painted a stripe down the back of each of His elect I would do nothing but lift up shirt tales in order to present the Gospel. Since He didn't, I proclaim the free offer of the Gospel to all".

My quotation of Ephesians One was to show the nature of that election as well as a proclamation of the Gospel. Have you ever repented of your sins and placed your total faith an trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as the only Savior and solution for your sins?
