They did use live ammunition. Didn't hit any of the inmates though. What a damned waste of good ammo.

Bach said race didn't appear to be behind Thursday's riot. "It was multiracial. There wasn't any group attacking any other groups specifically. They all got into it," she said
I for one am warmed by the fact that we have overcome our racist past here in this country to the point that black children and white children can grow up to riot in prison together. Now we have ammunition against the Jackson's and Sharpton's of the world. How dare they say we don't treat people as equals. Perhaps we should interview these prisoners and find out the key to racial harmony and working together constructively to solve problems.

The easiest way to solve this would be a multinational force led by the Northern Alliance. They have the guts and the experience.

No one is offering $25 million for a dead inmate tho.

I had so hoped that it was a woman's prison rioting because of the absence of batteries....Why worry about that? They have each other. :-)

Any "inside" scoop?????
To: RedBloodedAmerican
They were not paid 25 mil last time either.
Fair deal would be to feed them and allow them to loot any dead inmates.

Dustoffs at prisons are pretty common. These people aren't there for singing too loud in church. Unless you've spent time in a prison, it's hard to comprehend the degree of gang related and other strife inside. Fortunately, my time there has not been as an inmate, but in other capacities (legal, witness interviews, hearings, etc.).

Jingles started it. Ask Jimmy Rainwood; he knows...

Seven inmates were seriously injured. No deaths? We pay an average of $30,000 a year for each of these guys to be in prison. Governor Davis and the other politicians in this state have spent all our money for the state budget here so maybe if several of these guys got killed they would not have to raise the taxes so much here in California.
Oh that joyous day in 2002 when I leave California to never return! :-)

I didn't think knives were allowed in prisons...
