"I call it a mystery squid," said Mike Vecchione, a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration researcher. "It's unlike any other squid I've ever seen."

This creature seems to have all the right attributes for a date with Bill Klinton. Maybe we could set it up (that is, if he's done dating that mummy).

"This is the largest unexplored part of the Earth by far," said Vecchione. "I firmly believe that there is a lot of really weird stuff down there that we don't know about....

I was gonna say; "has anyone seen Bill lately?"

"Vecchione, first author of a study appearing Friday in the journal Science, said the only evidence of the squid comes from photographs and video images taken during submersible dives. However, he said, the findings are persuasive because they came from eight independent worldwide sightings by scientists from eight institutions in four countries."

Substitute the word "UFO" for "squid", and "airliner flights" for "submersible dives" ie...

You beat me to it!

Perhaps if UFOs were simply called "Mystery Lights" that would be enough for Science to endorse their study...

If a sample of the Squid-In-Question isn't found, then it will be relegated to the Unidentified-Swimming-Object (USO) catagory. If a sample flying saucer is found, they will be removed from the UFO catagory.
