Today the Houston area Freepers gathered and started the process of organizing a chapter. There were only a few of us, but it was a good turnout for less than a weeks notice and planning and for being the holiday season.
We have yet to come up with an official name for the chapter and we are taking suggestions. Be informed that Gulf Coast is already taken. We edited and adopted temporary chapter bylaws using the HOT chapter bylaws as an example.
We have a Freep planned for Madeleine Halfbright when she makes a trip to Houston in April, more details as we get closer. There was also talk of Freeping Lee. P. Brown's final inauguration/swearing in (if he can get the words right), but we don't know the date of that dreadful event yet.
Houston Freepers will be a force and we look forward with great anticipation to future events/Freeps and we hope to follow other great chapters like D.C., South Carolina, HOT, Gulf Coast and others.

I almost never read the Texas Locale List, but I did get a ping to this thread from Flyer, so I will attend the next meeting.

I took a look around at Radio City on the 'net. I have a feeling if we had a meeting there it would not soon be forgotten.
I have heard Jay Hooks, never seen him. Yet. Radio City may be the place.

Cool, I'll have to stop by some time and say hi.
You should talk to BellStar about promoting your place, she does that sort of thing for the Kemah area.

HAVE SIGN WILL TRAVEL
I am available for some measured activisim and perhaps a smattering of "Liberal" taunting. Put me on your list. I live in southwest Houston, the Alief area. I still have my sign from when I flew to Fort Lauderdale to protest the recount.

BWWAAAHAHAHAHAHA...actually YOUR camera makes me look GREAT! I say DON'T change a thing!

Thanks, I highly recommend Mark May, Jay Hooks and the Blues Crusers. If yall swing by to check the place out, I'll tell the staff that Freepers get there first
domestic beer on the house.
Also if you noticed there is an FR like forum at the Radio City web site. Feel free to use it if you need a long boring planning thread that might not be appropreate for FR. I haven't done much with the forum software, it works but it is ugly.

Isn't it fun on I-10? It takes what is normally a 15 minute drive 2 hours. Our Houston leaders are really doing a lot. It's been that way for 8 years that I know of and has hardly changed at all. Oh, the area between Addick and Eldrige where they added a lane. Now that is fun. Everyone gets in the far lane and runs you over or gets in front of you. Now there's a real traffic de-tangler.

From the
Texas Locale. . .

OK, I know it's Christmas and all...but GOPcapitalist and myself are trying to organize a Freep of Mayor Lee. P. Brown's Inauguration. It takes place on Wednesday January 2nd. Unfortunately, we don't know the time yet. Please post here or Freepmail me with any interest.
I did a heavy search this morning and could not find a time for the inauguration (or even the date and place - Lee. P. Brown's secret inauguration) Stay tuned for updates.
As always, FReepmail to get on or off the ping list.

To: eastforker; Humidston
To be notified of future Houston FReeper activities, send 'Humidston' a FReepmail with your e-mail address to get on the Houston FReeper e-mail list, but most importantly check the FR Texas Locale page regularly for late breaking details.

The only reason I know it's on the 2nd is because I called Brown's useless 3-1-1 number and after about 6 transfers and 20 minutes of waiting they were able to tell me the date and nothing else. I'm sure it's during the day, i can't imagine them having it after 5pm. I found some pics from his last inauguration and it looks like the event is held indoors, so that may be factor as far as our efforts.
