[history]
On Oct. 25, six weeks after the worst terrorist atrocities in our history, the United States was bombing Afghanistan, Colin Powell was discussing a post-Taliban government, investigators were grappling with anthrax in the mail, and federal agents were . . . well, they were going after pot smokers in California. If John Ashcroft had been around during the Chicago fire, he would have been handcuffing jaywalkers.

He also had time to stop citizens in Oregon from getting a doctors help to die with dignity.
Try to figure why the feds have jurisdiction in a case like that. - Boggles the mind.

Not interested in heroin, free or otherwise, and I can smoke all the weed I want right here in the good ol' USA. But Wolfie, this country only belongs to Dane and people who think like him. How dare you think you have rights!

But Wolfie, this country only belongs to Dane and people who think like him. How dare you think you have rights! Yeah, how dare anybody think it is their right to live in a low crime drug free enviroment.

Ahh, the Neo-Puritans.
What's it like being from the same culture that produces a ban on Santa Claus and indoor smoking?
In your reading of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol (if you lower yourself to even consider a humanist's Noel experience) is Ole Fezziwig the antagonist in your eyes?

Yeah, how dare anybody think it is their right to live in a low crime drug free enviroment. Thanks to Congresses use of createive semantics in interpreting the Commerce Clause, you don't have the "right" to live anywhere. The authority they claim to give them the power to wage the War on Drugs gives them the same power to wage a war on land owners, gun owners, home schoolers, or pea farmers.

What's it like being from the same culture that produces a ban on Santa Claus and indoor smoking? The old liberal trick of painting with the broad brush, I see. I think that Montgomery County, Maryland is a nut house, but you go right ahead and put Santa Claus on the same moral plane as marijuana, crack, and heroin.

The authority they claim to give them the power to wage the War on Drugs gives them the same power to wage a war on land owners, gun owners, home schoolers, or pea farmers, You also are a person who puts drugs users on the same moral plane as land owners, firearms owners, home schoolers, and pea farmers.
Sheesh you Libertarians will insult anyone to justify the use of drugs. That's why you all are at 0.5%.

You're expecting to much of these people, expecting them to understand human nature and historical precedent.

Cokeheads and dope smokers, whatever their shortcomings, don't have that mission. That's right, they don't want to kill us all, they just want a steady harvest of our car stereos and wallets and our teenagers money. Other than that they are really decent people.
To: Dane
I'm a land owner, firearms owner, and occasional pea farmer and pot smoker, so I guess there is a bit of equivalence.

I've never stolen anything in my life and woludn't start just because they legalized marijuana. Do you folks actually think about what you're saying, or does it just all come out by rote?

Hmm, Rudolph Guiliani got the pot smokers and crackheads off the streets and crime plummeted in New York City. He did? Really? So now it's not possible for any kid in NY schools to get cannabis or Koke? Or any member of the NY prison system to get the same? Maybe he got 'em "oof the street" but the trade just moved inside.
What are you smoking?
To: VA Advogado
The main reason the drug business was so profitable for the Taliban is that it's illegal: Prices are always higher in black markets than in legal ones. I'd be interested in your take on this statement. True, false?
To: Dane
Sure you are from the Conservative end of the Neo-Puritans; I don't deny you that. Or perhaps, you are on the Left of the Fundamentalist side, tolerating Santa, but certainly not whatever your neighbor chooses to injest. Perhaps you are a moderate centrist, turned off by the 'extremes' of the particular culture that you come from.
But I was asking a question about what it was like...apologies, perhaps that was too open ended. How bout: what toxins are 'okay' for ingestion, what is not okay?
If you can tolerate Santa, than I figure your fixation is in ingested substances-- correct me if I'm wrong.

Yawn Billy. Anybody who has lived in the city in the last eight years will tell it has improved 1000% in Guiliani's administration.
I know that you have to ignore the fact that Guiliani's tactics of taking your precious potheads and crackheads off the street was a major factor in the transformation of NYC, but what else is new when arguing with a Libertarian.
