The President and First Lady entertained a group of children from Boston Elementary School in Arlington, VA. The First Couple shared storytelling duties as the President ended the event with a reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas'. The plane that crashed into the Pentagon flew directly over the elementary school on September 11th. Also today, the President celebrated Hanukkah by lighting a 100-year-old menorah on loan from the Jewish Museum in New York. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

How wonderful! I think so too, and so appropriate at this time.

My first post on FR! I especially wanted to register (after lurking for months) to say Thanks! for posting these wonderful pics every day. I watched Laura reading to the kids today and it just brought tears to my eyes. She really is such a blessing for this country, as is her husband.

They are having a lot of fun in today's 'dose' and again, right at home where ever they are. There's something endearing about those reading glasses balanced way down the nose. Love this daily dose.

It thrills me to death that GWB would light a Menorah in the White House. I hope it sends a HUGE message to Arafag.

I do think I would love George Bush and Laura even directly after Ronald Reagan, though I think the contrast to you-know-who does increase my satisfaction! Are they wonderful with the kids, or what? I thank God daily that they are in the White House and I'm so thankful for rintense and her faithfulness to this nightly thread.

>>>>>A&E has GWB as #2 Biography of the Year with Rudy Juliani #1>>>>>

Sorry, as much as I like Rudy putting him above Dubya is ridiculous. There is no comparison of a city official leading a city in a disaster to a man leading a nation and rallying the entire world. I love Rudy but I don't buy his performance over George W. Bush. NO WAY!!!!

When you consider how she really did not want GWB to run for the presidency it's remarkable to see how well she has slipped into the role of First Lady. She fits it like a glove. She is the quintessential first lady, and I'm so glad she was willing to share her husband with us for 8 years.

"I'm thinking, Laura Bush is remembering her husband reading stories like that to his kids when they were little."

I read somewhere (can't remember where, as I read so many articles about the Bushes) that when the twins were little, George used to read to them from a book called "Hop on Pop." And when they'd get to the line "hop on Pop," that's what the girls would do...bounce up and down on their dad! LOL I thought that was so cute. Sounds like George was a fun dad, and a good sport.

Sounds like great minds . . . .

I hope he will be disappointed too when S. D. kicks him (Daschle) right out of that snug little office of his.

It just blows my mind that people were sucked in by Clinton. How can so many people in this world be so friggen shallow?

>>>>>Did you all see the article on Drudge about Senator "Disappointed" Daschle? Well, I decided it would be a good opportunity for me to write him and express my views about HIM. So, here is my letter. You should all go to senate.gov and send him a little note. He is obstructing Bush's agenda BIG TIME.>>>>>>>

I sent him one too and cc'd my Senators for all the good it will do (both are Democrats) But enough people start complaining to the idiot, maybe he will get the message, but I doubt it.

Welcome, katherineisgreat! My little granddaughter was the only one in her kindergarten class who voted for Bob Dole in their mock election. About Bill Clinton...she told her class: "Yuck, he's ugly!" She didn't care what the others thought because her mind was made up! LOL! This Granny was very proud.
