Survey finds 10 partners before marriage 'normal'
The majority of young people think it is normal for a person to have at least 10 sexual partners before marriage.
A survey has also found that three in 10 believe it is acceptable for a girl to lose her virginity before the age of 15.
Research carried out by Brook, the youth sex advisory service, says there is a "cultural change" in young people's attitudes towards sex.
Some 64% of men and 54% of women agreed that it was acceptable for a person to sleep with more than 10 partners before getting married.
But the survey, which questioned people aged 17 to 25, also showed that they wanted more information about sex and contraception.
Men admitted to getting most of their knowledge about contraception from TV and magazines, while women learned the most from magazines and their mothers.
Half of all the young women surveyed said they wished that teachers had supplied them with more information about preventing pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
Brook chief executive Jan Barlow said: "Young people have an increasing number of sexual partners and they are saying that's OK.
"But at the same time they don't have the information and access to services that they need.
"Young people must seek out advice and information in order to make their choices and to understand how to protect themselves both against pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases."

Well, that was an old movie. The lovely wife, played by Meryl Streep, deserts her husband and little boy because she needs to go to California to "find herself."
Though the horrible pain that her husband and child go through is hinted at, still the movie portrays the Streep character sympathetically. After all, '60s feminism decreed that "finding oneself" and "self-fulfillment" are far more important to a good life than those antiquated oppressive institutions, marriage and family.
Many men go for the "kick-the-tires" routine before buying. If the woman is no good in bed, the transaction for marriage just doesn't go through. Many men go through life "kicking-the-tires." A guy just can't be too careful, it seems.
Probably.
If a woman is "no good in bed," it's probably because the man has not taken the time, and is not devoted enough, to cultivate a loving relationship with her.
This of course is best accomplished in the context of marriage. Indeed, I think it's unlikely a woman can become fully sexually fulfilled without the enduring love and trust she is assured of in a genuine marriage.
Good Lord, what did she do! Eat crackers while you were making love?
That's your idea pal, not mine. What I'm saying is that you play a dangerous game when you elevate sex to such an incredibly high plane. Y'all have figured out the upside but completely ignored the downside of giving a poor young girl the idea that she's got a block of solid gold in her britches.Pay your quarter and pull the lever---the decision's yours.
So shacking up with a series of women to "check them out" before marriage is likely to lead, eventually, to a happy relationship? Not statistically, it isn't.
People who marry without engaging in pre-marital sex are more likely to stay married than those who "kicked the tires."
Men who kick the tires are putting the cart before the horse -- so to speak. A good "fit" in marriage isn't accomplished by trying on a series of women, like so many gloves or shoes. It's the slow build-up of love and trust in the context of marriage that eventually leads to really good sex. You have to have patience and dedication -- i.e., love.
Sex is a huge part of human functioning - compatibility can make or break a marriage.
The trouble comes when sex is treated as recreation - not everyone has the same expectations going in and not everyone comes out emotionally intact. And the mentality that leads to casual encounters does not translate well to married life. Best not to develop that metality in the first place.
Better to save oneself for meaningful, long-term relationships. It's a good compromise, IMO.
A man called into the show, and he was saying that women are just as bad as men these days in terms of selfishness and greed, and a lack of morals. Again, this "Dr." treated him as though he didn't know what he was talking about, indicating that it is always men who are the "dogs".
These pornographic shows are garbage, and they are contributing to the downfall of morality and decency. They, evidently, can't comprehend through their near-sightedness how flawed their beliefs are. If they can't see how many social ills come about as a result of "free sex", then they obviously haven't studied history, read statistics, articles, etc. Furthermore, it represents a lacking of common sense, morality, and the pillar which has made our society strong: The Bible. Without it, our society will, as it is now, become prone to all kinds of social ills and this, in its inherent nature, will result in the downfall of our society, albeit directly from diseases, fewer marriages, more divorces, more single parent families, thus more welfare, social programs, more taxes, etc, or Indirectly through the compromising of absolutes which can be transcended on many freedom issues that our Constitutional Republic is built on. Thus, it is apparent that our country, as well as all of Western Civilization, is in deep doo-doo.
As we all know, though, the entertainment industry, NOW, Planned Parenthood, and all the other degenerate industries and interest groups will speak up loudly for a return to sanity and normalcy. They, in their degenerated mind, are unable to fathom their consequences. Instead, they are focused on themselves in a rather greedy, selfish mode.

Well, some people call it self-esteem, not selling yourself short, and other terms like that. Of course, the guys might say something to the girl like, Do you think that you have a block of solid gold in your britches? Either put out or I won't take you out again.
