Help...I have a Kool-Aid drinking Mind Numb Liberal Cousin! (My cousin's Christmas letter)
My Cousin's Annual Christmas Letter to the Family | 12-9-01 | Norm Klimek

Posted on 12/09/2001 5:36:43 PM PST by Rash32

It's that time of year again, when I send out the latest updates for the year. And what a year indeed! First, I must get in my "told you so!" Yep, Bush is flushing 10 years of prosperity down the toilet faster than you can say Hail Mary! Fortunately the devastation has not yet hit us too hard in Colorado. Matthew is in kindergarten, Sean in second grade. Marsha is working at home with an Internet based order entry job. My work is going well, the economy has not yet hit us. We went to Montana to see Aunt Lisa this summer. We put a TV and VCR in the Caravan and it actually went fairly well. So travel is now becoming more possible. Lucy has chewed up everything and is now bigger than Matthew. She is a Golden Retriever and we hope to breed her next year. We want to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and that next year will bring better times for us all.

OK, so I lost a lot of investment money this year, but Mr. Bush got us a 600.00 rebate check! I would have rather seen it go to a prescription drug benefit for the elderly. Yes, the Grinch stole our prosperity and gave it to the rich. I would bet my salvation that Jesus does not approve of the Republican economic policy, especially right around the holidays. Of course, there is the convenient excuse of September 11th. As we return to the memories of the 80's, let us consider the 241 unarmed marines who died in Lebanon. The cargo planes full of weapons sent to Iran in exchange for hostages, to Bin Laden to fight the Soviets and to Saddam to fight Iran. I believe Dubya is doing a good job of cleaning up the mess his Dad left, but the economy was tanking long before 9-11. Don't insult this country by having a draft dodger use terrorism created from his dad's mistakes to give money to the rich. It turns out the anthrax was domestic with the culprit (like Oklahoma City) having Right wing Politics. The FBI reached that conclusion as only Liberals have been targeted. Surely Mr. Ashcroft will solve the case. Let's hope the war on terrorism will focus on the American Taliban next, our own right wing.

I have a holiday recipe for fundamentalist soufflé - mix a heavy dose of fundamentalism with government, with easy access to guns. Mix in some religion based education with low tax rates and school vouchers. Skin away all investment in infrastructure, diverting all resources to the military. Strip away social programs with a clever, then beat the women until they are tender. Remove all intellectuals and then sprinkle with school prayer. Bake for 10 years and then simmer until buildings start blowing up. Any intolerant religion works nicely!

"So, to which poor senior citizen did you give your $600?"

That's what I'd ask him.

You might also want to direct him to Democrats.com. Seems he would be very happy at that website. Tell him it's your Christmas present to him.

Lie, cheat, slander, steal and scare - the DemocRAT philosophy. If ya grab your shoulder's and pull really hard, you will hear a distinct pop. This sound will be your head being pulled out of your rectum. Make sure, by the Christmas tree, you tell your children all about why Jesus approves of abortion and how he was lucky his mommy didn't murder him because of convenience.

This is what I would say.

I would come at this from a "tasteless" perspective. I would simply reply that his Christmas letter was in extremely poor taste and encourage him to grow up. I would then call each and every other suspected recipient and encourage them to do the same.

What a horse's a$$. People do these sorts of things because they think they can get away with it. I would let him know in no uncertain terms that he didn't get away with it. Without an apology, I would not be on even speaking terms with this moron.

Don't waste your effort. Anyone with so little class as to make politics the center of a Christmas update letter intends to forever beat you over the head with both his ignorance and unrepenting stubbornness.

I think he's beyond hope, too.

Pretty hilarious that he brings up what Jesus must think of Republican policy. Of course, Jesus must be thrilled with the Democrats...

"Dear cuz,

It's good to see that you haven't lost your sense of humor. I look forward to all your misguided and idiotic rants every year. Have you ever thought about stand up comedy?"

He seriously put that diatribe in a Christmas letter? Tacky. He probably can't get anyone around him to listen to his paranoid theories anymore, so he inflicts them on others in the guise of celebrating a holiday.

A simple "And a Merry Christmas to you, too!", preferably on a card with a "fundamentalist Christian" Nativity scene, is the best course, IMO. Maybe he'll get the hint that he just made a fool of himself

But you have US - Freepers! You have friends who are experts in everything - genetics, cooking, physics (and psychics), medicine, politics, religion, economics - well, you get the idea.

Besides: we like Stick Man. They probably think he's just another pretty face.

You're unlikely to convert someone like this, but you might be able to make him feel like an idiot for spending his whole Xmas letter talking about politics. Unless the people on his card list are diehard leftist political junkies, they are not going to care to read his ranting diatribe in a venue where such things are best left out.

I don't know about anyone else out there in Freeperland, but if I wrote the conservative equivalent of that letter and sent it out in my Xmas cards, my family and friends - even those who agreed with me - would be very put off. There's a time and place for everything, and a holiday card is really no place for a manifesto (especially one where you try to project your own political opinions onto Jesus!!!)

Just my $0.02

Maybe just tell him to save his postage next year. How awfully rude of him to send such a 'Christmas' newsletter.

Maybe you should send him a copy of this thread? LOL

I have a cousin like this too. Luckily, the rest of my family is not nearly as deluded.

This guy is jerking your chain big time. I would not respond to this air head other than to send him a nice card with a brief note suggesting he take some of his sperm to mate with the dog and clone the first Barking Idiot

Response #1 Ask him which charity he gave his money too. Send him the name and address of a charity which provides healthcare to the needy. You could check with your church denomination, salvation army, catholic charities, etc. It shouldn't be to hard to find one.

Yes, the Grinch stole our prosperity and gave it to the rich. I would bet my salvation that Jesus does not approve of the Republican economic policy, especially right around the holidays

Response 2: Ask him to tell you what the Republican economic plan is? See if you can get him to agree to the phrase "a rising tide lifts all boats", to describe that the republican economic philosophy. Then reveal to him that JFK said that, and JFK was the first president to argue that tax cuts spur economic growth. So the evil republicans are copying a democratic hero.

Eh... you could send along a printout of this thread. He'd probably get so angry as to sever all ties with you. It's a win/win situation!

very funny letter; that's the kind of letter nobody takes seriously, he's not even serious about persuading anybody. it requires no response. Better to just smile whenever he says anything and pay little attention.

He's purposely of a mindset where you can't talk sense to him anyway, the most you can every do with him is argue.
