WIMom or Texaggie79: do you have any donation links left over from the Freepathon? ;-)
;)
The above sentiments of 'Rightly Biased' echo mine exactly. However my wife is coming around. Perhaps one day I can get her to pick a nickname and contribute.
Beware! My other half introduced me to FR and now can't get me to stop FReeping. Be careful what you wish for.
Same here. I was a freshman at Penn State and my mother sent me an absentee ballot and insisted that I vote for Nixon..... so I voted for Nixon.
FreeRepublic has made a difference for our country. It probably played a significant part in defeating Al Gore and the prospect that clintonism would continue under other auspices. We aren't out of the woods yet, but we have seen an end to one of the darkest periods in our country's history.

(I posted this a minute ago to the wrong party - sorry about that.)
I was one of the Prodigy First Hundred Thousand, the Current Events Board was a wild time. It was the first time that I wasn't the only conservitive in the world. When AOL came in and everyone started drifting off, I was lost until you started FR.
I think that I might hold the Lurking Record, Keep up the good work.

No offense, Cicero, but 'bull****'. It's not only a place to catch up on the news, it also is a place to report original and breaking news. With 50,000 or so active and participating members, we often form a network of reporting citizens, and I have seen on several occasions when we have broken news an hour or two before the very first AP wire copy emerged. For example, when the plane was forced down in Chicago by a madman who charged the cockpit, it was Chicago freepers who first reported a sonic boom -- and armed with the reports of a diverted plane due to the rowdy passenger -- we deduced that two fighters had scrambled to escort the plane down.
This is merely one example of the real-time reporting we are collectively capable of. In a way, we serve as the eyes and ears of America. And with our research abilities, we also serve as its brain. We routinely pierce the false stories advanced by the FedGov (such as the crap they advanced about TWA 800 and the lame excuses they put forth vis-a-vis Waco).
I am proud to be part of a very unique and interesting phenomenon -- online activism and online reporting -- and forever may we stand.
This forum, Free Republic, is the vanguard of the new political discourse in this country and in the world. It represents the future of politics, and the future of news dissemination as well. Further, it is a forum where news has been broken first-hand by freepers! And as the international network of freepers continues to grow, so will its impact on every aspect of news and politics.
Congratulations, Jim Robinson. You have made history.
1. Check mail.
2. Check Free Repiblic for news.
Thanks Jim, for all you've done. You're a big part of many folks' daily lives.
And nothing less.
I second that question.
The WP/LAT squeeze is a blatant attempt to stifle a constitutionally protected freedom. I don't think most people realize why and how these giant forces are trying to use you as a guineau pig to redefine the conception of free speech and comment in this country.
FR and yourself threaten the monopoly on opionion making/sharing and that threatens these folks as much as any commercial reason.
FR has given conservatives and patriots a feeling of empowerment, and the realization that they are not alone with their discontent with the status-quo.
CBS, NBC, ABC, the WP, LAT and the NYT are in the business of progagandizing and manufacturing consent for big government.
God bless you, and continue as long as you possibly can.
Mr Robinson, I salute and thank you for this forum. It has aided in the education of both myself and my wife over the past 18 months.
