Congratulations to Crouch. I am a huge Miami fan, but I had felt that Crouch deserved it over Dorsey (or Grossman).

Consistent with conservative principles: the Heisman Committee is a private organization. If you don't like what they do, either buy them out, start your own competing organization, or shut up.
Or maybe you'd prefer that Hillary investigate them. After all, she already knows how to utter the words "level playing field."

You are so blind to the felonious Nebraska Football program.
Why???

You're lying about Gaffney. He stopped two punks from stealing his property. Maybe you favor theft. Now their mommies are thinking about suing. I'm sure their little darlings never did anything wrong. Poor babies.

Did Flutie throw more picks than TD's? Look in the dictionary (sic) the word objectivityI will as soon as you can write a coherent sentence. You obviously missed my point about Flutie. I like him as a player and thought he should have gone to the NFL before his stint in the CFL. Folks like you think he and Eric Crouch are only good enough to play in the CFL. As far as objectivity is concerned, I am not a Nebraska fan but I believe that Crouch won the Heisman based on his career. No other division one college quarterback in history has scored as many running touchdowns. No other player on a top ten team meant as much to his team this year.

Nebraska?
Check this. LSU had a run in with the NCAA. A basketball player accused the program of shenanigans. The NCAA found no administrative fault, only a few people who were boosters and a coach. The coach left, the boosters were banned as a result. The school was fined, lost scholarships and lost any post-season play. The player who turned LSU in, and had originally been in on the corruption, was allowed to transfer to Kansas(coincidentally not far from NCAA headquarters) and was never punished.
The next year Notre Dame was found out to have the same problem except the admin was in on it too. They got a slap on the wrist.
Face it, College sports are corrupt period!!!

Nebraska IS NOT A CORRUPT SCHOOL! We haved more all Americans than any other school in history. We have more graduate than any other school. We have NEVER been fined or punished for breaking an NCAA rule! ALL team members are REQUIRED to do memtoring work with troubled teens. ALL team members are required to work within the community somehow. Those who break the rules are out. And those who break the rules are hardly EVER from Nebraska, they usually are imported from another state!

Supply the facts. Others have tried on this thread and failed.

Nebraska IS NOT A CORRUPT SCHOOL!
Sorry toots, this jewel is jaded. Wait till you read the rest of this thread. It will open your eyes about the REAL school you're defending.
To: Dan from Michigan
He deserves it! No team had a player that meant more to their season.
To: GroovyGuru
Eric beat both Frost and Tommy's records!! Why doesn't he deserve it?? He is a class act. Our fans cheer the visiting team in memorial stadium, even if the visiting team beats us. Our fans stand up and cheer them....not like some other places who spit on our players! Where is all your class then??
To: GroovyGuru
What are you smoking????? Going to Nebraska cheep????? Try 12,000 a year! That's not cheep, plus living expenses! And they have to meet high standards just like ever other school. You guys must be reading a believing the comics!
To: Jewels1091
'We have NEVER been fined or punished for breaking an NCAA rule!'
Isn't that a Clintonian argument?
To: Bogey78O
How is never being fined by the NCAA a defence??? It's a fact. That means that the NCAA has never found we broke one of their rules....That means that Nebraska is a pretty clean team. Listen, every boy in this state wants to play for Nebraska. If they get on the team, they are not going to break any rule! If they come from another state, well we can't help they don't have mid-west values, we do the best we can with them and sometimes it doesn't work.

I would have to say that Crouch was the WORST pure QUARTERBACK of them all. I would agree. However, the award was not for the best pure QB. It was for the best player in college football. The case can easily be made that Crouch is more valuable to his team than any of the other for. He did rush for 1,115 yards and 18 TD's. Nebraska would be no where near #3 in the BCS without him.
They finally recognized the existence of option quarterbacks? I mean, I could never understand anybody other than Jack Mildren having won the Heisman in 71....

I hear there is a movement afoot in Norman to bring back Gibbs. They need someone who can beat OSU. ;)

Carr had 4,299 yards, 42 touchdowns, 7 interceptions this year and led the Dogs to a big win over Colorado, not to mention victories over Wisconsin, Oregon State, Colorado State, and Louisiana Tech. Last weekend's game against Utah State should have clinched it - 21-27, 442 yards, 6 touchdowns and no interceptions in less than 3 quarters!!! All the other candidates have been flawed, but Carr has been consistent all year.

The thought of Nebraska playing in the National Championship is distasteful and illogical. After all, they didn't even win their own conference, and they lost big time to Colorado by 26 points only two weeks ago.
I found a reason to vote against Nebraska, when I really looked at their schedule closely. They were found to have the #14 strength of schedule, which sounds great. However, they went 6-0 against teams with a #64 ranking or worse(patsies)! They were 4-1 against top 40 teams, 1-1 against top 25 teams, and 0-1 against top 10 teams.
What about Oregon. Their strength of schedule is #31. They were 2-0 against patsies, 3-1 against top 40, 2-1 against top 25, and 0-1 against top 10 teams.
Colorado played by far the most quality teams. They had the #2 strength of schedule. They were 3-0 against patsies, 5-2 against top 40 teams, 2-2 against top 25 teams, and 2-1 against top 10 teams. I think an argument can be made that if Nebraska or Oregon had played two more top 40 teams, they might have another loss on their record like Colorado. Nebraska is particularly ridiculous, since their patsies all came at the beginning of the year. They got fat fast.
