Israel launches new strike

Israeli helicopter gunships have fired missiles near Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's headquarters in the West Bank town of Ramallah.

A BBC correspondent in the town says that a large hole was blown in the wall of the compound, and two people are reported injured.

It is not known whether Mr Arafat was there at the time.

The attack is the latest Israeli retaliation since last weekend's suicide bombs in Haifa and Jerusalem which left at least 25 Israelis dead. Israel blames Mr Arafat for not preventing such attacks.

On Monday, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon won his cabinet's backing to declare the Palestinian Authority an "entity that supports terror

He was IN his headquarters in Ramallah at 3:00AM EST. CNN just confirmed he IS there. The strike was close enough to cause a singular catastrophe in Arafat's shorts.

From the Jerusalem Post

IAF missiles slam into offices by Arafat's Ramallah HQ

IDF helicopters are attacking Palestinian offices adjacent to Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat's Ramallah headquarters at this hour. The attack is centering on the PA's "Interior Ministry," which shares a common wall with Arafat's headquarters, Israel Radio said. The choppers loosed three missiles in the volley, The Associated Press reports. There are Palestinians casualties, according to Palestinian sources. Palestinian officials said Arafat did not leave the building during the attack. First reports on Sky News say he was unhurt in the airstrike. PA Information Minister Yasser Abed Rabbo's office was demolished in the attack, the report said. "We have stated publicly that we do not intend to harm him [Arafat] personally," said Sharon adviser, Danny Ayalon. "But since he is responsible for the wave of terrorism which has been going on, we had to hit something close to him personally." At about the same time, IAF helicopters shelled a Palestinian security installation in the West Bank town of Salfit. There were no reports of injuries. Israel's cabinet decision - declaring Arafat's government a supporter of terrorism - was meant to step up pressure on Arafat to crack down hard on militants and prevent attacks on Israeli, but was not an opening signal for a major assault on the Palestinian Authority, said a Sharon adviser, Raanan Gissin. "We'll use all the measures at our disposal with greater frequency, with more impunity, to put pressure on Arafat to comply," Gissin said. Ministers from the Labor party left the cabinet meeting in protest before the vote was taken. Transport Minister Ephraim Sneh hinted that Labor might quit the coalition, saying that "the unity government is important to us ... but not at every price." Labor favors rehabilitating ties with Arafat. It was not immediately clear whether Palestinian official Tayeb Abdel Rahim warned that the Israeli attacks "will push some of us to reassess this position." Jibril Rajoub, the Palestinian security chief in the West Bank, warned the decisions of the Israeli Cabinet will "push us and the situation into more violence and bloodshed."

Quite a site...I must agree. Didn't realize that Gaza was such a pretty city, and rather modern looking compared to all we've seen out of Afghanistan.

Israel should be the next stop in the war on terrorism. The Arabs don't want peace for Israel, they want a piece of Israel.

RAMALLAH, West Bank (CNN) -- Two Israeli Cobra helicopters fired rockets Tuesday, striking a building in this West Bank city adjacent to the headquarters of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat while he was there. Large explosions resulted.

Arafat spokesman Nabil Adu Rudieneh said four missiles struck a building used for Palestinian interior affairs, separated only by a wall from Arafat's offices.

Yea, I get it, Israel strikes, and Palestinians bomb

You don't get it. This started in Munich. By Arafat. NOT Sharon.
And I agree. The *palestinians* have *bombed* badly. You can only mess with G-d so long. Ask Bid Dead'n.
