Don't forget Barbara Olson. This is so sad, brought tears to my eyes again.

RIP, Mike.

No offense to Beatles fans, but its sad that the media spent (and is still spending) much more time on Harrison's death then to tell us about this american hero's life.

You are so right except for one thing -- I don't give a clinton about offending Beatles fans.

The disgusting liberal media have fouled the airwaves with talk of Harrison. Who cares? Spann was a hero who gave his all for this country. We should be celebrating his bravery.

Thank you for keeping his memory alive and alerting us by posting the photos of his arrival back on U.S. soil. Manassas isn't far from Burke where I live and D.C. proper. Hopefully, I can find an address in the phone book to send sympathies and prayers to Johnny "Mike" Spann's family. If not, cards sent to the CIA headquarters in Langley will probably be forwarded to his widow.

There is a way to send a message to the Spann family and I am so happy to give it to y'all!

Today's editorial page of the Birmingham News has a space to send your message to the Spann family and gives the following address: Spann Family Message c/o Scott Stantis The Birmingham News P.O. Box 2553 Birmingham, AL 35202. All messages must be received by December 15th.

It would be really cool if a lot of freepers sent messages on their own!

Could you share this with your lists?

Sunday night and so many folks might miss this awesome thread, if not for your flags.

Thank you "Mike" Spann. I believe you are safely home!
I pray God keeps your family safe in the palm of his hand.

Safely Home

I am home in Heaven, dear one; Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over. Every restless tossing passed.
I am now at peace forever. Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus' love illumined every dark and fearful glade.

And He came Himself to meet me, in the way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely, for I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth's shadows, Pray to trust our Father's Will.

There is work still waiting for you, so you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth--You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is all complete, He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come!

Well, the Beatles fans can go rot. Their world revolves around something very inconsequential, compared to this.

Here's a MAN who gave his life defending his country. May he rest in peace, and may God have mercy on his soul.

I read that he was bitten to death by men with their hands tied at the elbows.

No mystery. The Beatles, especially John Lennon with his simpering "Imagine" have been and always will be more important to those yuppie media bastards than a genuine, military/government hero who deserves any and all honors we bestow upon him.

No offense to Beatles fans, but its sad that the media spent (and is still spending) much more time on Harrison's death then to tell us about this american hero's life.

Yet the media had no problems blabbling his death before it was confirmed.

From Nov. 29, 2001

              Spann's father blasted the news media for reporting his son's
              death before it had been confirmed by the government, saying
              that if his son were still alive at the time, such reports put his life
              in jeopardy.

              "I don't have to tell you that I probably feel a little angry about
              that," he said. "I really think the (news media) in America ought
              to think about that and when something like this happens again
              they ought to consider what they do and what they say before
              they do it."
