I'm an @home customer, AT&T to be exact. At 8:15 CST, I no longer could access any pages. Not google.com, not cnn.com, none of the old standbys that ALWAYS work.
I've heard a lot about the poaaibility of @Home pulling the plug on 4.1 million customers. Did it happen? The only reason I can connect at all is that my lovely and gracious fiance also has a dialup account for when she is on the road, and I am calling in here using that. I am presently on hold on the AT&T@Home help line. I'll have more information.
Technically, the light is on but no pages are being connected. My Cable Modem is up and connected but nothing loads.

Everyone who loses their @home should cancel all of their AT&T services. They caused this mess more than anyone.

Yeah, I'm off too. Luckily we still kept our msn account. But now only one computer works. So I have much less time online.

I'm still going through Excite using AT&T. All I received so far is an E-mail welcoming me to AT&T Broadband but nothing has changed.
Keeping Fingers crossed in Oregon.

And it has not happened in Sioux Falls, SD.

The impact to the financial markets should be very bad and very large. Probably, but I'm still not in favor of a Government bailout...convictions are convictions...and I believe when there's a demand, a supply will appear, sometimes better than before. Doesn't help the anxiety this AM though!

Since this seems to be limited mostly to AT&T maybe EXCITE@home has chosen them as the "fall guy" to send their message. Especially in light of the fact that AT&T made them a ridiculous low offer to buy their hardware & system.
Looks like most of the rest are still up, but the other companies like Comcast (my ISP), Cox, etc. had better be heeding this warning...if that's what it is.
I'm thinking this is their way of saying "this can happen to you!"

The last point is a joke. My DSL puts the old cable modem to shame.

Hey laz... am talking to my sister, and it appears that her AT&T@home has gone dark. Olympia, WA area.
I'm on dialup... always have been. I'm pretty much in the boonies.

Hopefully, the outages are aimed at AT&T to try and boost their offer. My thoughts exactly. This looks to me like a high-stakes game of chicken between Excite@Home and AT&T, and Excite just put the pedal to the floor.

Not this kid. I always keep a backup plan. :)

Hello all. I just thought I would share the following email I received from my cable provider. I have Time Warner's Road Runner service, which is completely different than @home, which provides broadband service to many of the other cable companies throughout the country. I hope you all don't drop soon and that there is a way to get this resolved.
Cheers
STC
You may have become aware that recently Excite@Home, the Internet service provider for both Comcast@Home and Insight@Home cable modem customers, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection at the end of September. We at Time Warner Cable have received some calls from Road Runner subscribers concerned as to what this may mean for Road Runner. We would like to reassure you the bankruptcy that Excite@Home is facing will in no way affect Time Warner Cable, Road Runner or the cable modem service our customers are receiving. To be clear in our communication we should state while Road Runner will be unaffected it is unfortunate we are not able to offer Road Runner service to homes outside the Time Warner Cable service areas.
You can take comfort in the knowledge that Road Runner will continue to provide you with a reliable super fast connection to the Internet as well as all the services you have always enjoyed including email, web space, and great content all from our new homepage. Service will not be disrupted in any way.
Thank You,
Your Indianapolis Time Warner Cable and Road Runner Team

You may be on to something there. It could be that the judge gave them the right to terminate contracts, and the AT&T one was the most damaging to their bottom line and therefore the first to go.

At&t broadband is different than @Home! At&T bought out @Home but from what I am hearing they were too far gone to save.
When I first got my cable modem it was through my cable company, Mediaone. They were bought out by At&t but I keep my mediaone email address. I am an at&t broadband user not an @Home user. As far as I know any service cut in the @Home connection will not be effecting me, I hope!
It's all to confusing with all these damn mergers!

My cable connection seems to be ok here in New Hampshire, with the exception of having lost connection to my @Home homepage. Email still works, and the internet is still accessable. I just switched my homepage back to Excite.Com and everything is just fine.
