Hey, Norb! Check this out. I sent your article to some friends and included President Bush [I consider him a
near friend! ;-)] and here is the reply via
autoresponse e-mail: Thank you for emailing President Bush. Your ideas and comments are very important to him.
If your message is about the September 11 terrorist attack on the United States, please click go to www.whitehouse.gov to learn more about the American response and to receive or provide help in the recovery efforts.
As the President said recently, one in three Afghan children is an orphan and almost half suffer chronic malnutrition. He has asked American children to help Afghan children by making contributions of one dollar individually or collectively to:
America's Fund for Afghan Children
C/O The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington, DC 20509-1600
For more information, go to www.whitehouse.gov/afac/
Unfortunately, because of the large volume of email received, the President cannot personally respond to each message. However, the White House staff considers and reports citizen ideas and concerns.
Again, thank you for your email. Your interest in the work of President Bush and his administration is appreciated.
Sincerely,
The White House Office of E-Correspondence
Please Note:
If the subject of your email was a request for a Presidential greeting, please note that all greeting requests must be submitted in writing to the following address:
The White House
Attn: Greetings Office
Room 39
Washington, D.C. 20502-0039
Please review the guidelines carefully before mailing your request to the White House. The guidelines are accessible at:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/greeting/
Now, how's that for a follow-up on sincerety?
Even his autoresponse is a sincere, from-the-heart response. . .

" Now, where did I put my bag of carrots, lol" The bag of carrots morphed into a sack full of chicken legs when you morphed into Atilla.
LOL!

Awww, am I being THAT incoherent?? Shucks!! Mr. Cato is the one who's really not making any sense! He's a REAL conservative;we're just make-believe conservatives, I guess!!!
To: LuvItOrLeaveIt
and I know more about HMX-1 then he obviously does.
Is it also an urban legend that LBJ tried to strip Air Force One of almost all it's contents including a hydraulic powered Chair that was made to raise him above all sittting at the conferance table when It took him home after Nixon was swore in?
To: HelgaHawk
LOL! Oh no, Helga. Just wishing you a "night night" ;-)
To: MeeknMing
Hey, Thanks for sending my story to the president.
I hope he doesn't get upset because I exposed his humilty, (it's a Texas kinda macho thang, ya know).

To: kstewskis
Gee thanks!!! That's so nice of you! I thought me meds were making me say funny stuff!!
To: HelgaHawk
Nope, you may actually have something here. Maybe I'm the one who's not a Conservative. Maybe I've just been looking at W the wrong way. Let me stop taking a look at what he's turning out, and concentrate on what kind of a REALLY NICE GUY he is.
He doesn't beat his wife or kick his dog, he tells the truth, and he treats those in his employ with respect. WOW! What a great man. He's my hero.
To: Norb2569
Thank you so much for relaying this story!
Gee, I'm having a really tough time containing my utter JOY that we have a MAN in the White House! :)
Liberals take note...the nation is STILL breathing a sigh of relief. Thanks (not) for the turkey you folks supported for 8 miserable years.
To: ModernDayCato
Every time one of you Libertarians can't use the old intellectual babble to win an argument, you come back with this "REAL Conservative" crap!
The only Conservative values the Libertarians ever had they stole from the Republican Party because they couldn't attract any votes with the Libertarian philosophy.
You call George W. Bush a socialist!
You want me to produce facts to counter your argument?
You're the one who made the challenge - you come up with the facts to support your case!!

"...earning the respect of the military community..." ======================================
Reminds me of a line that Charlton Heston used, but I forget his exact wording:
'It's nice to hear the words "The President of the United States..." and not dread hearing what follows'.
Bravo President Bush....Bravo !!
To: ModernDayCato
Something tells me that it doesn't just take 'not beating your wife, not kicking your dog'to make a man a decent, admirable President. The terrorist attacks of 9/11 caused many people to react in many different ways, including our President, Congress and our government. Yes, even us, the sheeple. I am sure that he would not be taking some of the steps he is taking now and in the manner he is implementing them if these events had not occurred. Hard times lead to hard choices. I for one, am ok with how he is handling the entire situation. At least I don't have to sit here and loathe him like I did with 42.

Hey fellas, can I 'ax' you a small favor?
I know y'all got a difference of opinion, and that's fine, but so many folks are giving such uplifting comments about our president's humanity.
Can y'all call a cease fire to the hostilities on this thread?

Remember the story from early in the Clinton years, when some unfortunate military officer was assigned to ride in a limousine with Chelsea? She freaked out like Freddy Krueger had gotten in the car with her. Nope. But here is Freddy, just in case. ;-)
To: COB1
Uh, you're a little behind there, Sparky. Take a look at #213.
To: Norb2569
I do too.Later tonight after I do the thread for tomorrows Canteen I am going to print out my wonderful present from you, thank you so much.
