DITC Commentary: Ever wonder where all those "seed faith" dontations are going? Whose getting rich again? Remind me. It thought it was those people who sent in their seed faith donations who were going to get a "100 fold increase" and that they would be the ones buying luxury homes. What a shock to find out it doesn't work out that way! Duh!!!!

Please tell me when and how Benny Hinn has ever repented. To truly repent for his blasphemous and pagan drivel, horrifically issued in the name of our Lord I would think that in the very least he would resign from being on TV, fast for weeks and spend the rest of his days on this earth in quite personal prayer for atonement.

He has done much harm and what is worst is that he did this harm in the name of Jesus and only God can forgive him for that.

Here, here! Excellent advice. Support the organizations and ministries right in your own hometown. There are many food pantries that are low this season due to the focus we have had since 9/11. Please contribute generously to those ministries that work to assist families with the basic needs of life.

I stand corrected. I actually thought Holmby Hills was a specific section of Brentwood, but since even Brentwood is not a 'real' city, such distinctions are more or less meaningless.

Have you actually seen the Spelling house? It looks like a 2/3 scale model of the Beverly Hills hotel in pictures - is that correct? How would I get there to see for myself?

This is true. Isn't it funny that no one has a problem with the Hollywood "ministers" lining their pockets from the "gospel" they preach....and run to the box offices to willingly donate to their coffers with the trash that they spread and indoctrinate their children with...yet they are horrified when ANY minister has more than one suite...and a vehicle better than a used Rambler?

... or run their business. If that's how they want to practise their faith or run their 'religious' business, then the Constitution of the US protects that. As a Christian, though, I know that it is wrong to ask for donations for the spreading of the Gospel and spend it on a $5M house, when a $250,000 would easily suffice for Pat and Jan and her hair to all live comfortably together.

They aren't ministers. Not of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, anyway. They are scam artists looking to scam money supposedly in the name of our Lord and Saviour.

Those committed to the Great Commission are not by any means required to take a vow of poverty. But blatant profiteering in the name of God is blasphemous in and of itself. Money used to further His Kingdom should be used for that -- not on $5M luxury homes when a $250,000 would suffice for Paul and Jan and her hair.

Paul and Jan are not preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They are just industry leaders in the religion business.

As a Christian, I'm reluctant to criticize a fellow believer, but Benny Hinn takes the cake. My son taped an HBO documentary on the good Reverend Hinn, at one of his "miracle" crusades. I normally don't watch HBO, but I was glad I saw this particular documentary. During the service, one spectator after another received "healing" of terrible diseases (cancer among them), while ol' Benny just beamed. After the crusade, the producers asked the Hinn organization for the names/addresses of those who received healing at the service. After much foot-dragging, Hinn provided the names of seven persons healed at his crusade. When the producers tracked them down (predictably), only one was truly cured--a woman with a sprained back that, according to doctors, would have improved even without medical attention. At the other end of the spectrum, a man "healed" of cancer had abandoned his traditional treatments and died. Needless to say, his family was quite angry at Benny Hinn.

Don't get me wrong: I believe in miracles and healing, through God. I don't believe Reverend Hinn has any "powers," other than as a charlatan and snake oil seller. BTW, an evangelical minister who appeared in the documentary echoed your comments about Hinn, who enjoys a rather lavish lifestyle himself.

I saw similar events in a church in Georgia about 12 years ago. The pastor brought in his oldest son as "senior" pastor, then arranged ordaination of his teenage son as well (the only non-family member on the pastoral staff then quit in disgust). Then, the pastor announced plans to acquire a broadcast license and put a radio station on the air. Amazingly, the church board supported the pastor through all of these moves until he demanded an extravagant raise and housing allowance. When the board finally said "no," the pastor resigned and formed a new church, leaving behind a recently-completed church complex and a huge debt for the remaining parishoners. And, BTW, he "kept" the radio station, since the broadcasting license was issued to a seperate entity, with the pastor's wife as "president." Five years later, the pastor and his family sold the station for a tidy profit. Sadly, organized religion remains a reliable get rich quick scheme.

Some people go to Disney World. Some people give to televangelists. My mother lived next door to one when he was on the run from the auditors. He drove a Navigator but parked it across the street so they couldn't find him. I'd see him on TV asking for money for the starving Haitian kids while selling Holy Annointing Oil. That was his business. He was paid to raise money by any means necessary.

Bakker is a perfect example of why they need a $5M house. You never know when the gig is up. Get it while it works cause when it's over, it's over. Praise the Loot!!!

Wanna tell me what the difference is between Benny Hinn, Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell? I see no difference at all. I'm wondering why you're focusing on this one guy. All three are charlatans.

You're wrong. I've never heard anything close to the heresy I've heard from Hinn coming out of Robertson and Falwell. They attempt to stay as scriptual as possible. Hinn just spews.
