There is still a lot of value here, but it used to be better. Quality people with inspired minds, discussing events and learning from each other. Now you find 200 post threads with nothing but one liner insults.

You're just illustrating that Barbra Streisand song about not remembering the way things were--unless you're talking about pre-mid-1998 days. As long ago as July 1998 most of every long thread consisted of one-liner insults, quips, and chat. In fact, that's what made most of those long threads long, posters going off on their own conversational tangents or flame wars.
