The poll is most specifically NOT an indication of the success of the campaign, as the article clearly points out. Silly me. I thought public opinion mattered.
This whole campaign is very much like the flag burners. The flag burners believe they are going to hurt loyal Americans by burning the flag. They believe they are striking a blow into our hearts. All they really accomplish is to get us pissed off. Pissed off at them and their cause.

Public opinion certainly matters. But not public opinion of the ad campaign. That was a large part of the article, that the problem with the efforts so far is that they were meant to be "nice". This is an attempt to disturb and shock, which they realize is going to make the campaign unpopular. The question is the effect on peoples opinion of the issue, not the campaign.
