Does anyone know what kind of a job B-1 Lancer bomber is doing in Afghanistan? I always thought it was one of the prettiest planes out there, along with the F-16, but haven't heard much about its usefulness.

Went to the Air Museum at Warner-Robbins AFB two weeks ago. There's a retired B-52 on display, among many others. I'm an engineer and he's a retired 747 captain, so we had a great time sticking our heads in the wheel wheels and bomb bays and identifying what we saw. "Hey look at this - that's a bleed air hydraulic pump." "Here's another." "Look at this FUSE box - yikes." And so on for about half an hour.

Great day, truly impressive aircraft (but not as impressive as the SR-71).
