If it wasn't for the way they handed that game to Georgia, they'd be playing for the whole shebang.....

Don't underestimate UT. The only thing the Gators have in their favor is the location. All you Gator fans need to remember that we don't cheat. We remember how y'all stole the game last year.

My memory is definitely gone. All I can remember is how we beat UT.

You are an Aggie, you say? Texas A&M opened against McNeese State (very nearly lost, IIRC) and you are criticizing the 'Horns for having a weak schedule? Bwahahaha!!!

It's also possible that Texas would return to the Holiday Bowl to play Washington. Colorado is tentatively penciled in now.

Hey, good point. And I believe that the Big 12 and Pac 10 have tougher academic standards for athletes than the SEC. Yet we still can beat 'em with one hand tied behind our back! I'd absolutely love a UT/UT or UT/UF Rose Bowl. Go Horns and Va Tech, and all else doesn't matter to me.

LOL!! Except for Tennessee and Florida the SEC is a joke. Top to bottom it is a weak conference. The PAC-10 and Big-12 put the SEC to shame.

Reality Check time!. You must be in a rehab program. The SEC is by far the best in College Football. This week's Top 25 has 6 SEC teams ranked. How many PAC-10 or BIG-12 teams are ranked?.

Too bad Nebraska won't get to play Miami, who is clearly the most talented team in the country. It would be great to see Miami destroy such an overrated team...as are all the other Big 12 teams. Miami has at least 6 or 7 players (in their starting 22) who will play in the NFL...that doesn't even count the dozen or so underclassmen who will also end up being drafted. The PAC-10, once again, is the toughest conference in the country...check out their non-conference record. Too bad that Miami insists on remaining in the chump-filled Big East Conference. Maybe they should go back to being independent like Notre Dame and beef up their schedule. Not a 'cane fan...just an unbiased college football fan

I had a full ride academic scholarship offered to me to attend Colorado. The same grades barely got me into BYU. Now it is even harder to get to BYU my old grades would not be good enough.

Obviously I don't play football. Colorado has had a consistently good football team.

Ha, nice try. Those rankings are fluid, a couple of weeks ago it was reversed. If Iowa State was ranked(don't remember), then the Big 12 has had 7 teams ranked in the top 25 during the season. 8 teams headed to bowls, same for the SEC. But look at the top teams, the Big 12 top 4(UT, NB, OK, Col., all 2 loss max) collectively are better than the SEC top 4 (FL, TN, and then pick 2 from the second tier of 3 loss teams Auburn, LSU, UGA, USC).

Six of the eight BCS spots go to winners of conferences (ACC, Big East, SEC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 10).

And that is why the Maryland Terps will be in one of the bowls.

Yet more delusions. Go back to the end of years rankings for the past 10 years and you will find more of the same. SEC football is tops. Try to back up your delusions with facts, it's much more effective and convincing.

You are obviously not unbiased as claimed and not even very bright either. You statement about the SEC lacks any understanding of the game of football.

The computers need to get out of the BCS. How can anyone justify the fact that 3 of these computers have a Washington team that lost 3 games by a combined total of 105 points ahead of Maryland, who only lost 1 game all year which was to a ranked opponent in a game that was tied going into the 4th quarter? I know SOS has to play a role, but that is too much.

I think that Maryland's schedule is too weak for them to be considered for the Rose Bowl, but they should be higher than 11th. Illinois played a comparable if not weaker schedule and somehow they are #8. Stanford and Colorado each have 2 losses, but at least they played tough schedules.

Still, Maryland should not be penalized too much for the ACC not being any good this year. The problem is that for their nonconference games, they played Eastern Michigan and Troy State. Hopefully next year they play a tougher schedule so they can contend for the national title. I know they start off with Notre Dame but I'm not sure what they have from there.

And according to the rankings, Al Gore was elected President. Its called subjectivity.

Also when doing historical analysis, note how many Big 12 teams played higher ranked opponents in a bowl game, versus the SEC. In other words, the Big 12 more often faced the greater challenge, so has a lower win percentage(though Texas choking to Arkansas is inexcusable), so that will also influence the final rankings.

I'll give you that in years past, the SEC had the best conference, but that lead has slimmed the last few years as Texas, K-State, and Iowa State have improved, and this is certainly a down year for the SEC. Sorry, Big 12 number 1 this year.

Nebraska NEVER plays anyone, and lost when they did.

In 1996, top-ranked Nebraska and Tommie Frazier beat up on No. 2 Florida, 62-24,
