It seems to me that the world is somewhat out of order.
Terrorists all over the place.
SLAVERY in some countries (in the 21st century)!
In the early 20th century the British Empire ruled much of the world. They made ghastly mistakes, but overall they did well. They brought education, sanitation, and medicine to people who had none.
Todays world is much more complicated. But there is a need for someone to straighten this mess out.
The EU is not up to it. The Soviet Union is DEAD.
Who is left to take charge?
You tell me.
(BTW, I have my asbestos undies on. :)
1. A nuclear strike force.
2. Something as good as the USMC.
No disrespect, but you are not in the running yet.
Sadly, most of the American sheeple don't even begin to comprehend your analysis.
I keep hearing about how bloody wonderful the British Empire was, and the reality is that the countries which never had imperialism -- Japan and Thailand -- did much better than those which did. Even China under Communism has had a faster economic growth rate than post colonial India. Compare Africa, which threw off colonialism in the twentieth century, with South America, which threw off colonialism in the nineteenth century, and there's a vast difference.
It was the steamboat and missionary societies which brought education, sanitation, and medicine to the world. The politicians just mucked things up royally.
Finally, compare the US, which threw off British Rule in 1776, with Great Britain which, last I heard, was still under British rule . . . .
All of these observations fit in with my libertarian-conservative belief that it is better to have your country run locally rather than by a paternalistic bureaucracy thousands of miles away.
Who should rule the world? The Individual.
Tiny Blair wants the job back now.
Let him have it.
Just what are you? A space alien? :)
You are right. It is one of those jobs that if you want it, you shouldn't have it... But LibKill is exactly right. There is a vaccuum of leadership on the world stage and if the Good Guys (US) don't step up to the plate, we will be fighting the bad guys and their minions for the rest of our lives. The time is not unlike pre-Nazi Germany. Chamberlin only delayed the inevitable. Thank God our parents' generation stepped up and got the job done. We owe no less to our children...and their children.
Your analysis is right on!
The Rockafellers and Rothschilds already have the job.
Good point about empire. But one of the few good things about politics is that it gives you someone to throw out when things aren't working. If all you have is yourself, that can be a problem.
Mankind has never been capable of RULING himself! When he gets too far astray from Gods laws, chaos rules. The U.S. gov. as envisioned by the founders was as close to successful self rule as man has ever achieved. That was back when the founders held the creator to be above all else; not so today.
When the U.N. takes full control, we are near the end of man's rule on earth, *Book of Revelation*
However, a world empire seems a little impractical. I won't just "happen" (no way I would ever concede authority to the U.N.) so I am left to think that the only way that a nation can make it happen is by military conquest.
No doubt that would solve some problems but it would create a whole host of others. I view individual nations as good things because they are cultural boarders. If we are attacked by one, we will strike back but ruling them all does not seem like a good idea.
The UN stinks. I would not follow them anywhere.
