Ed Clarke was a very sane and balanced man. I voted for him too, primarily because the Pubbie was so pathetic.

Uhhhh, 'scuse me for reminding you, Torie, but . .

. . the Republican candidate in 1980 was that pathetic loser, Ronald Wilson Reagan.

Could it have been possibly another Presidential election you were thinking of?

No, I was thinking of the California governor's race, when the GOP candidate was that giant of a man, Eville Younger, running against Jerry Brown in his reelection bid. In that race, Clarke got 5%, which Brown won by a landslide. Clarke got about 1% in the presidential race, and I did NOT vote for him in that race. :)

By the way, when Clarke ran for governor, he was an in house anti trust lawyer for ARCO. Now just how "mainsteam" can you get? LOL.
