"Man, if I used the Bible as my guide to living, I wouldn't be eating shellfish and I'd be sacrificing animals on an altar to appease the almighty."
If that doesn't say it all...

We need to start enforcing current anti-sodomy laws, pass new anti-sodomy laws in states which have repealed them, and increase the severity of punishment for these crimes against society. My own feeling is this needs to be a capital crime once again.
What kind of laws do you have in mind? Will you punish anal variety of sodomy more harshly than the oral version?
Would both forms of heterosexual sodomy---anal and oral---be legal, or would they be illegal as well?

I agree with you, 115% !! !! !!
This 'Queer as a Football Bat' Alternative Lifestyle" has grown waaay to far. To be such a small percentage of the public....they sure do make more than their share of noise.
....Question....Isn't this part of what brought down the Roman Empire????

Man, if I used the Bible as my guide to living, I wouldn't be eating shellfish and I'd be sacrificing animals on an altar to appease the almighty. Well, you wouldn't be eating shellfish, but you wouldn't be sacrificing animals on an altar. Christ took care of that one.

What an interesting hypothesis - Are you saying that AIDS is human nature's defense mechanism to rid itself of those who could ultimately destroy humanity?
On the other hand, it could end up destroying humanity itself if the virus ever mutated and became airborne (Read the Red Zone, a true story about the CDC).
Then one could argue that maybe Mother Earth is trying to rid itself of the one organism that it sees as most self destructive - humans - because of the air, earth and water pollution - rain forest depletion, ozone layer destruction, you name it - I remember reading here (Free Republic) linking a report that said something to the effect that a gay man's life expectancy is decades lower than a heterosexual male - because of the high risk behaviors gays indulge in -
Does anyone remember that report and can they link to it?

The words "sacred" and "fun" should not be used in the same sentence, except to produce hilarious results. Why are you projecting your personal abhorrence of sacredness on others, including many believers who find it a source of joy and delight?

My advice to you is...keep blitzing. You're bound to stumble on an idea, sooner or later.
Excellent!!! I wish I would have thought of that.

The point is that the above article is a non-sense... I guess in your hurry to respond, you missed the fact that the folks saying the things you're shooting at, are gay activists.

"Reputable psychologist"? Show me one! Heck, the psych major girls I dated in college were the most screwed up of all. I could care less what some egg-headed, pencil necked geek psychologist says...common sense says YES, HOMOSEXUALITY IS SICK!!!!!! So true. Psychology is one of the biggest pseudo sciences ever invented.

Man, if I used the Bible as my guide to living, ... Jews can speak for themselves, but Christians are not bound by Old Testament Law. If you think of the Bible as an instruction manual, you're missing the point.

"Sick" and "gay" are redundant. "Gayness" by its very nature is abnormal.

I don't abhor things sacred. We just might have different opinions as to what is sacred.
To me, the grounds of the World Trade Center are sacred. I don't know where "joy and delight" fit in with that.

Man, if I used the Bible as my guide to living, I wouldn't be eating shellfish and I'd be sacrificing animals on an altar to appease the almighty.LOL! Well, if you thought any of us needed proof that you didn't know anything about the Bible, you surely handed us all we need with that backwards quote.
Yes, if you were a Kosher-keeping Jew, you would have to avoid shellfish but if you were a Christian, you would not as the book of Acts will tell you.
As to the sacrifice, as a Jew you'd know that you only do that at the Temple in Jerusalem (kind of hard since that Roman thing in 70 AD) and the Christian knows that we are not to sacrifice anything as the ultimate sacrifice has been completed.

Actually, I believe the injunctions against eating shellfish, the injunction to make animal sacrifices to God, and whatever injunctions there are against homosexuality are all found in the Old Testament.Yes, those are all aspects of the Lord's Covenant with the Jews.
So are we saying those are all antiquated now?
No, but as those of us who know the Bible can tell you, the only aspects of the Judaic law that are binding on the Christian are those involving sexual morality.
By the way, what exactly does the Bible say about homosexuality?
It calls it an abomination.
To: BikerNYC
But you said that sacredness and fun cancel each other out. So they must be opposites. Something that's the opposite of fun is misery -- how can you NOT abhor misery?
We just might have different opinions as to what is sacred.
Possibly. What does "sacred" mean to you? What do you mean when you use that word?

Go back and re-read my statement and you'll see that I don't mention AIDS at all. Homosexuality very well may be nature's way of stopping defective genes from being passed on. Normalizing the perversion would be a grave mistake.
