ABC in the Hot Seat for Underwear Show

Groups ranging from Parents Television Council to National Organization for Women are furious at ABC for devoting a prime-time hour to models strutting in undies.

"This year, in particular, it seems like there's been a lot more crass and vulgar content on TV than I've seen in years past," said Melissa Caldwell, research director of Parents Television Council.

The low-rated network is making "a sad attempt to lift its ratings with Miracle Bras," griped NOW President Kim Gandy.

A Federal Communications Commission member has asked for an investigation into whether the Victoria's Secret fashion "special" violated indecency regulations, the Associated Press reported today.

The program attracted only 12.3 million viewers Thursday - finishing third in its time slot.

ABC is making no apologies for the skin show. It says it deleted the diciest footage.

"There has certainly been racier things on television than this," huffed Andrea Wong, the ABC executive in charge of "alternative programming," whatever that entails.

What a crock!!! Anyone who fails to recognize the primordial beauty being displayed on that stage that night, has some serious issues with which to contend.

Well, if NOW is against it; I'm all for it! Unfortunatly I missed the show so I can't offer any meaningfull critique. I wonder if they'll rebroadcast it?

Exactly. Some people have to realize that NOW is the same organization which defends Clinton. Ask yourself what beauty he saw in that fat slob (for all of you moderates, Monica), let alone his wife.

Thanks for the link....

Geez... I've seen racier stuff at the beach and I didn't hear any body complaining about it... unless of course it was someone's wife chastising them for looking a little too much... ;-/

I couldn't help but notice that on that particular Thursday night, at 8:00 pm, the major networks offered the following:

Fox offered us Temptation Island, the sleazy show where couples go off and have a fling with some other hot single guy/girl in order to "test" their commitment to each other. This show basically condones and even encourages casual sex and "loose" sexual attitudes.

NBC countered with Will and Grace, a show that centers around a homosexual. Of course, we know that homosexuality is the pan-ultimate sexual sin.

ABC, however, took the cake with this Victoria's Secret special, which was basically pornography on primetime network TV.

CBS offered the one show that is not sexually immoral in CSI (Crime Scene Investigation).

Given this filth on network TV, I must confess that I see the dilemma of today's mother who wants to raise her child with a sense of decency and sexual morality.

That episode of CSI featured a prostitute who was into S&M who was murdered by the weak husband of a woman who was cheating on him with her boss, and one of the primary characters was the madam of the S&M bordello...who the lead investigator called an 'anthropologist' because of her study of human behavior...both moral and otherwise!

Speak for yourself man. I don't like to haul anymore extra "padding" around on the back of my motorcycle than neccessary. I also like someone that can sit in my lap without cutting off the circulation to my feet.

Our previous president spent the majority of his time getting laid while the old lady was next door, lied to the nation, and sold military secrets to communist countries to advance his political cause. What makes you think you cannot overcome this "dilemma of filth" you believe you are watching on free tv?

They need the extra padding so after childbirth they don't sit around for days gaining strength but can go out and milk the cows the next morning.

Maybe I’ll get flamed here, but that’s okay. First of all, I taped it to see the next day. I was surprised how well it was done, and I am one who thinks fashion shows are pretty disgusting and offending with all their ugly fashions and smirking models. I loved the gospel singers doing their thing up above the runway. And I thought those angels floating about were an unusual interesting touch. In view of what the show was about, it was surprisingly (for me) in good taste. It was full of great energy.

Worthless distasteful conservative maggot. Can't you understand how the lyrics from songs like that opera singer can seriously effect children's minds? You made not have understood him, but all of those 5 and 6 year olds watching did. Not to mention fighting with their fathers for the closest spot in front of the television.

"National Organization for Women are furious at ABC for devoting a prime-time hour to models strutting in undies.

Don't women have the right to do with their bodies as they wish?

Not only that, but the NOW chicks were fighting amongst themselves: "Gee, the one in the pink panties...I saw her first...."
