AMBRIDGE - Former president Bill Clinton yesterday blamed himself for not building stronger ties with the Muslim world during the 1990s, and criticized his administration and that of his predecessor, George H. W. Bush, for abandoning Afghanistan after the Soviet occupation of that country ended in 1989.

Two thoughts occur to me:

Every night before he goes to bed, Vladamir Putin must thank God that G.W. Bush, and not Clinton or Gore, is President of the United States at this critical moment in history. Putin has to wonder why the looney left in American and Western Europe still cling to the "discarded lies" of the past even as Russia and other republics and satellites of the former Soviet Union struggle to transform their societies into capitalistic democracies.

And every night before he goes to bed, Jiang Zenim must ask himself where he went wrong. How could the "party in power" in the United States allow G.W. Bush to assume the presidency? If only they had given Clinton/Gore and the DNC a little more "walking around money," maybe that would have enabled them to "buy" a few more votes in Florida. How can he deal now with an American President who can't be bought and is not afraid to use that big stick?

"This guy has no insight at all into how bad these speeches of his make him look."

Actually he does realize how stupid these speeches are, but he is always assured that those in attendance including the media will respond to them as though they are the words of a supreme being.

Bubba could step up to a podium and make animal noises for 20 minutes and the sheeple in attendance and the media will be falling all over themselves on how moving and inspirational his speech was.

The solution is not ONLY getting rid of the Klintoons but the media and the entire DNC spin machine as well (Carville, Mcauliffe, Lahane, Fabiani, Ratner, Clift, et al)!

I think Bill and Hillary both would rather be Arabic Muslims so they could be dictators. It fits them both well.

We would have been better off if we never helped the Afghans fight the Soviets. Helping them did nothing for us. Maybe if we didn't help them they would like us better.

Excellent analysis, IceGirl.

I do agree with BILL_C (post # 83) that much of it is damage control. Look, this clown speaks as if he had been an outsider the past 9 years who had had nothing whatever to do with anything that has transpired since 1992! That to me is the most amazing thing about this speech. The message is "I wasn't there!"

And that, I think, is quite revealing. This halfwitted hillbilly is posing as an independent commentator on the state of the world and America's place in it.

The bragging, the excuses, the flamboyance, the Little Richard of American politics without Little Richard's humour, talent and decency (with sincere apologies to the distinguished Mr Richard Penniman.)

Former president Bill Clinton yesterday blamed himself for not building stronger ties with the Muslim world during the 1990s

Under his breath he was really saying:

Damn, I should have pardoned MORE terrorists. These bozos needed help to complete the job. I should have relaxed even MORE laws and allowed EVEN MORE illegals into the US so they could've voted for Algore. They were just outmanned.

I am almost speechless myself. I could not even finish this article. Clinton is so many bad, bad things but he is spewing anti-American garbage and at a time like this it is more than I can take.

Clinton said the US-led coalition now at war must defeat terrorism, calling it ''a struggle for the foal of this new century.''

I may be missing something, but what the f*%# does THAT mean?

"We cannot engage in this debate without admitting that there are excesses in our contemporary culture," he (clinton) said, without offering specifics.

Let's see, would he mean excesses like accepting millions of dollars in illegal campaign contributions from foreign sources; or excesses like receiving oral sexual favors from low-ranking employees young enough to be his daughter under his desk while negotiating congressional support for troop deployments that put our soldiers at risk; or excesses like obstruction of justice and perjury in a civil trial for his lecherous behavior while governor of Arkansas; or maybe the hobnobbing with some of the most vulgar and hateful vile members of the entertainment industry to garner more financial support for his morally bankrupt political agenda? Yes, there are plenty of excesses in our contemporary culture to which the impeached perjurer-in-chief could and should admit.

Thanks for the ping. The man's a head case. He never cared about support, didn't even bother to ask the Congress for permission before bombing Sudan and Afghanistan. If Clinton's name's attached to a quote, it isn't worth reading. No way to tell the lies from the facts and why should we bother.

If his manipulative spy network's lurking:

"A patriot without religion in my estimation is as great a paradox as an honest Man without the fear of God. Is it possible that he whom no moral obligations bind, can have any real Good Will towards Men? Can he be a patriot who, by an openly vicious conduct, is undermining the very bonds of Society?....The Scriptures tell us "righteousness exalteth a Nation." - Abigail Adams

bill clinton is a stinking lump of excrement from the lowest form of life on earth. He resides in a dank, fetid sewer of human filth and degradation, wallowing in the putrescent muck and bodily waste of other low forms of life.

You are being too kind.
