This article is about the Northern Alliance disarming the folks in the areas it just captured. This gos to show the true colours of the NA. They are no differnet from the Taliban or any other tyrannical group IMHO.

then you are just either really dense or just not paying attention. There is no shortage of weapons in Afghanistan. Would you prefer that the stores of weapons hidden by Taliban be left just where they lay and for the pockets of resistance to re-employ?

Disarmament in a war zone is a lot different from gun control in the U.S. They disarm the Afghanis because they know a large portion are pro-Taliban and would kill their soldiers.

Well, I do not like the disarming of home defense firearms from the civilian populace there. The Taliban disarmed the folks the same way when took over in 95.

The S F Chronicle is part of the same left wing group that prevented our troops from having military exercises on "their beaches", don't want the second amendment for US citizens, but now complain the Tallies will not be able to defend themselves without their weapons??

Well I hope the SF Chronicle folks can put 1 and 1 together and get 2 so that they will also condemn domestic disarmament in this country of ours.

That is a pretty bold statement to make considering they have been at war for years and don't yet know who their friends really are. I would do the same thing under the circumstances.

The UN is gonna bring Afghanistan into line with their small arms disarmament strategies it seems. Soth Africa is being done the same way they say. Larry Pratt needs to be sent the SF Chronicle article about the NA doing disarming so that he can condemn it in the next GOA magazine or newsletter,or whatever publication GOA has.

Sounds like a really good reason to keep your home defense weapons. Hint: People who want to disarm you are not your friends.

Try to remember where this is. All this means is they don't want civillians carrying guns in public anymore. Ya can't put American standards on these people. Nobody's going to turn in their REAL guns ... only hide them. We should be so lucky to have the armament these guys get to have. Fully automatic assault rifles are just the beginning.

And you think that any advancing army does not disarm the populace in territories it has just liberated? Especially in a guerilla war? As my great uncle used to say "Get your head out your behind boy!" Any military would be insane not to confiscate weapons given these circumstances.
