You beat me to it.
The first time I saw Dr. Zhivago, I thought it was really good. Saw it again a few months ago and decided it was one of the all time greats, not just as a romantic movie either.

"The Prisoner of Zenda" (1937), with Ronald Colman and Madeleine Carroll. Second runner-up is "Bachelor Mother" (1939) with Ginger Rogers and David Niven. The scene in Times Square at midnight on New Year's Eve makes every other romantic film pale in comparison!

Zefferelli's "Romeo and Juliet". When I was in high school, my girlfriends and I would drive to theatres in other cities to see it whenever it happened to be playing. I think I saw it about fifteen times before I graduated.

Ditto that! I've seen it MANY times, but it's been a looooooooooong time. I recently saw Monsters Inc. and came out with the need to watch it again. Time to go to the video store...
