So you like Harry Potter?

Before Harry was born, a wizard “…went… bad. About as bad as you can go. Worse. Worse than worse.” He terrorized the wizard-ing world with a deadly curse.

Harry became famous as the boy who lived when he survived that deadly curse. Voldemort murdered Harry’s dad, then threw the curse at Harry, but Harry’s mom took the curse on herself to save him. Voldermort hit Harry with a curse again. That’s how he got his lightningbolt scar. But the curse was broken. Hagrid calls this “a great myst’ry”.

Lily Potter loved her sone so much that she gave her life. She jumped in front of the curse to save him. At the end of the story, the evil one couldn’t even touch harry! As Dumbledore said, “to have been loved so deaply”, gave Harry protection forever.

What a great story! It’s set in a fantasy world. There’s another great story. It REALLY HAPPENED in our world……

Before the world began an angle went bad About as bad as you can go. Worse. Worse than worse.” He terrorized the world with a deadly curse. God cast him out of heaven, like lightning see? He tricked people into disobeying God and hit ‘em with a deadly curse. People lived in fear of death until the curse was broken.

Jesus broke the curse. He took it on himself when he died on the cross. When Jesus came back alive that proved the curse was broken.

God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him will not die but have eternal life. (John 3;16). Believe in Jesus. He is the real elixer of life.

Then you can be the boy (or Girl) who lived.

Jesus came to distroy the works of the devil (that angel that went bad). He prayed he would “be protected from the evil one.” In our world, all witchcraft is like the Dark arts at Hogworts. So don’t dabble! Practice Defense against the dark arts. Get all your supernatural powers from God.

What is your opinion of the Duke Blue Devils? The Demon Deacons of Wake Forest? Do you object to attending sporting events at Sun Devil Stadium? What about the golf course community down the road from my house... Sunset Ridge, with the course's name being Devil's Ridge!?

Looking forward to seeing the movie with my kids as well. It's good to see some wholesome entertainment come out of Hollyweird for a change (actually the movie was shot in England). I made a deal with my kids though, I'll take them to see Harry Potter if they come to see Lord Of The Rings with me in December.

Robertson has also made that comment. The Twin Twits of the Testament seem hold the same views like blaming the 9/11 atrocity on homosexuals, loose women and most likely Harry Potter.

You talk. But you don't listen. You think your questions are hard and you have wisdom. You do not.

If you knew God's Word then you would know the folly of your question. Specifically, one of the most prevalent themes of God's Holy Word is that man is separated from God because of sin. Adding more accounts of the well-established conflict between good and evil would not serve to enhance its clarity.

God's Word is perfect and there is nothing more needed. Not in this century, not in the last.

You should also know (as others have said before in these threads) that Satan is a liar - the father of liars. His first tactic is to abuse and misrepresent God's words. He is a deceiver.

Be careful! The spirit world is altogether real. Satan wants to keep you from knowing the truth. He will appear like a gentle friend - even until you are on you knees regretting the choices you have made.

Let him who has an ear hear and obey!

All are evil, Duke Sucks, Wake p'd me off last weekend, the Sun Devil's and the teams who play in their stadium (Az. Cardinals) suck, and Devil's Ridge damages my golf game. But Harry Potter's OK.

One of my wifes friends is a big time Roman Catholic. She will only date guys who are Roman Catholic. I saw a Harry Potter book in her car and asked her about it. She replied "I love Harry Potter books." I pointed out to her that religious people are all up in arms over the books and are proclaiming them to be evil and the work of Satan. She didn't believe me. I told her, go to FreeRepublic.com and do a search on Potter and you will see. She replied, "well I hope their not Catholics."

Oh, several of my wifes friends have the same first name. To distinguish the one talked about above from the others I refer to her as "Miss Polly Prissy Pants."

One of the prevelant themes of your argument is your memory of scripture. I wanted you to speak from your heart, not your memory. The Bible was written by man...not by God, not by Jesus, but by man. Man is falible. God is not.

If you want to read the word of God, as written by man, and learn its lessons, then fine. However, do not use scripture as a means to make your point. Tell me, in your words, why God can have his hand in the writing of the Bible, but not in the writing of other literary works.

"Wecome to the Inquisition again."

Ooops, the Fundies are at it again, eh? .

Pardon us Mullah Darwin for bringing up the ugly specter of a free and open debate in a free society. As though having reservations about Harry Potter on a spiritual level are akin with reverse- heresy.

But what else could we expect from one who's monicker indicates their heritage is believed to be directly linked to primordial ooze. Hey, in that case I'm a believer.

I will try to follow your threads, as I am continually trying to get answers without the bible references. Good luck, I haven't had much. Usually people get mad at me and start a semantics war or just call me names. Good question.

we will see what happens. I am not asking them to disavow thier religion....just speak in human terms on a human level and leave the 'Say unto Him' comments for another time.

Ok, another Roman Catholic story for ya. In August I traveled to London and Edinburgh for my friends wedding in Edinburgh. His mother and her best friend came to the wedding too. Well, let me tell you about his mothers friend. She refused to attend the rehersal dinner on account of the resturants name! Its name, The Witchery.

She then refused to attend the wedding! The wedding was at Dalhousie Castle and she had a problem with where we were having dinner... at the castles restuarant, The Dungeon!

Now here is the real kicker. There reason she refused to go to these places is because she talked to her priest about it and he told her to NOT go!!!

She didn't even attend her own sons wedding a few years previous because it wasnt in a Roman Catholic Church! I think this lady has serious problems.

I'm Roman Catholic and I married a Jew. I guess I am gonna burn in hell even more than if I had just read Harry Potter!

"I just can't see my faith being shaken by reading a piece of fiction, and I wonder why so many seem to think that faith could be shaken by reading a piece of fiction. That just seems strange to me."

Well said! I agree 100%.

Personally I enjoy the books and am seeing the movie at 10:30 tonight. Can't wait to see it come to life.

And I will still be a Christian afterward too. Imagine that.

"The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked."

One of the prevelant themes of your argument is your memory of scripture. I wanted you to speak from your heart, not your memory. The Bible was written by man...not by God , not by Jesus, but by man.(false, false, false, false) Man is falible. God is not. (true, true)

If you want to read the word of God, as written by man,(false again) and learn its lessons, then fine. However, do not use scripture as a means to make your point. (There's a better source?) Tell me, in your words, why God can have his hand in the writing of the Bible, but not in the writing of other literary works.("He chose to !"-- my words)

A dog doesn't deserve to have that which is holy. A pearl for a swine has no good reward.

This is my last response to you - unless your heart softens. I sincerely hope it will.

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

In Christ,
Russ
