"It could potentially backfire if ABC is seen as compromising its integrity in any way," Sweeney said.

Oh give me a BREAK! "Compromising its integrity"? This is when Rush would say "what the hell does that mean?"

I'll watch to see if there are more ads for feminine hygiene products or beer.

I agree, but at the same time really never have appreciated the new massive movement towards fierce competition between one of these. Seriously, how much farther can they go without going too far?

Interesting. How low can you go? Not to rain on the parade of anyone who wants to look at women in their underwear, but this is going to be on broadcast television. It's not going on cable or pay-per-view or some other "protected" medium. Anyone who wants to watch this can watch it, including children.

I'm all for the freedom of adults to do what they want, but we have to balance that with the freedom of parents to choose how they raise their children. Part of this means that I don't believe that certain things should be on unrestricted shelves in the Library, certain things should not be clearly visible at the front of grocery and convenience stores, and certain things should not be on broadcast television.

I also believe in the free market and commercial enterprises being free from government control as much as possible.

All of this introduction to ask the following question: How do I find out who the advertisers are without actually watching the show. I want to write all of them and announce a personal boycott until I get a written promise that they will be more careful in the future. I don't plan to boycott ABC, I almost never watch TV anyway. But I do buy stuff. I'm ready to let the sellers of that stuff know what I think their social responsibility is.

Anyone have any activist suggestions?

Shalom

P.S. I think my children could learn a lot from FreeRepublic, but I can't let them browse it at will because of the large amount of profanity (and including special characters for the vowels doesn't change anything) and the large number of purient photographs that show up here. I notice Tumbleweed selected the more purient of the two photographs contained in the Fox article. When we select photographs, could we at least make sure there is no nudity? Just a humble request.

Phil --

Again, a natural, a no-brainer, an obvious bit for the Show. Report the story tomorrow morning, and ask viewers to call in Friday morning with a "tasteful" review of the Victoria's Secret Show. Have some fun. Ask callers whether they watched because they were "interested in fashion"? The guys who call will stumble all over their hanging-out tongues in an effort to state a reason other than "interest in T&A" for watching the Vickie's Show.

Damn. I wish we had an hour of our Show on TV. This would be a slam-dunk bit for us to put on TV. In the interest, of course, merely of covering "culteral events."

Don't get me started.

Cable...A rare, or Protected medium...Hardly. As to Children watching it, see above for what is marketed DIRECTLY TO CHILDREN.

I plan on staying downstairs and continuously running up the basement steps and watching if my husband gets carpal tunnel from changing the channel so fast. I am easy to amuse.
