And with Rudy's interview, RUDY ROCKS!!!He is such a calming influence. This is sooo scary - I can't see Bloomberg calming people like Guiliani. I was speaking to my friend from Queens and he can't believe this just happened. He said it looks like a war zone down there. Everything is blocked off and closed down.

Local radio station reports that the Park Police are investigating a "suspicious package" on the Memorial Bridge in DC.

This:
Planes were being diverted to other airports, and Delta Air Lines spokeswoman Peggy Estes said the airline was working to account for all its planes.
stuck out.
What does Delta have to do with anything, and why aren't all their planes accounted for already?

C'mon people....this is not a terrorist attack!! THE numbers DO NOT add up to #11!! WAKE UP.
Actually, I think it was a bomb in a suitcase or planted somewhere on the plane.

Dude, take your pill, I work in the industry, planes crash, get over it...I've worked with the milspec components used in aircraft, be afraid. I HATE flying in the best of times. When is it going to sink in that there may be sleepers working at GE, Boeing etc.? Dude? Guess what the guys name was who set up a recent interview for GE? Muhamed Abbas. I won't fly unless it is an extreme nessessity and sympathize with anyone who feels the same.

BTW: this puts the kabosh on the stupid media Gore recount. That's too bad; that report was GOOD for George W. Bush and Republicans. Not that it would have shut up the Dems.

EXACTLY!!!! Have you ever seen C-4 explode? A block shaped like a can of shaving cream would do the trick. This scares the living hell out of me. I can handle attacking a hijacker. Dealing with incompetent airport security personnel who are more qualified to flip burgers at McDonald's is what scares the hell out of me. And I'm flying to San Juan on Saturday. That airport scares me more than the ones here!!!!!!!!!!!!

WABC 770 radio had caller from boat saying he heard pop; looked up and saw wing come off; wing hits tail section and tail comes off; plane turns belly up and crashes.

Wing and "propellor" caught fire before crash ("Propellor" - LOL - that's one problem with eyewitness reports). Think a little before dismissing this report. It may indicate the the engine casing had come away and the witness observed the turbo fans rotating in fresh air.

Memorial Bridge in D.C. closed.Do you have a source for this? I don't have radio, only national TV in my office. I am directly under the flight path to/from Reagan National. Just heard a plane go over. This is making me nervous!!!!

It is suspicious, when there is an immediate rush to judgment, "no evidence of terrorism -- appears to be accidental." What government official would want to make such a hasty judgment, before a very alerted public --unless there is a policy of hush and cover?
Remember the rush to "no terrorism" judgment in the first anthrax incident.

Some 'witness' reported that the engine came off and the aircraft veered over. Flight mechanics, Mohammad, Akbar and Hassan are sure they tightened all the bolts.

That's why I never check anything ;-) Seriously, it is only an overnight trip so pretty easy. Thanks for the prayers...my wife will need them (she is NOT happy).

DD, wouldn't a well fed Pelican sucked into the roters of an engine on an Airbus under strain (as in that infamous turn) cause the motor to disintegrate and send pieces parts into the fusilage and thus tear pieces off of the hide? ... [We're gonna have to get a handle on these terrorist pelicans, eh?] I'm amazed at the number of folks who appear to WANT this to be a terrorist attack. Haven't we gotten back to the basic stats on airline accidents yet? This is likely a very tragic accident, not some terrorist attack.

It is funny to hear the talking heads report that the officials say there was no warning about terrorist activity so this must not be a terrorist event. Did they say the same thing after the FIRST plane crash into the WTC.But as we're under a permanent state of alert these days, doesn't that mean there's a constant warning anyway? They can't rule it out, much too soon.
An eyewitness on abc-radio said that first there was an explosion right where the wing meets the fuselage, and THEN the engine fell off. She was walking her dog and had a very clear view of it.
