Chelsea was in NYC on 9-11 and wrote about her experience in the latest issue of "Talk" magazine. These are my fav quotes.
"One thing I recall is the somewhat irrational medley of thoughts running through my head: my parents, the tax cut, and Humpty-Dumpty."
"I worried that with the tax cut we wouldn't have enough money to repair New York and D.C. and to help the the families of the thousands I knew must have died."
"I was expounding on the detriments of Bush's tax cut as we approached Grand Central Terminal and were met with hordes of people running out of the station.."
"Once we stopped running I started praying. I prayed for my country and my city. I stopped berating the tax cut and started praying that the president would rise to lead us. And I thanked God my mother was a senator representing New York and that Rudy Giuliani was our mayor. I have never reacted so viscerally to a leader, particularly not to one I had been criticizing just the day before for some insensitivity or other.
"As soon as my father got back to New York, I was anxious to bring him to Manhattan......I knew he would want to connect with everyone who was confused and suffering..."
"As he always does, my father made me extemely proud."
"My mother, meanwhile, had worked nonstop, and as my father and I walked around Union Square, person after person approached us to tell us how grateful they were to her, how proud they were of here. I am still so unspeakably proud of her too, and as a New Yorker, grateful for her and her colleagues' efforts."
"That Monday I went to Rosh Hashanah services w/family friends, the Iscols.... In early Aug Zach (their son) was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps..... most people could not understand his decision. Why waste a Cornell eduacation on the military? "
WHY couldn't Bush just brush off Clinton's entreaty to return to the US with a polite "Err, ya know, WE'RE KINDA BUSY RIGHT NOW...".
It's not like Clinton knew anybody personally, that perished in the attack.
If he did, not only would we be subjected to a reminder by all the media suck ups every 10 minutes, Clinton would sound like every one of Teddy K.'s speeches: "(count down 3,2,1)...and my brothers...".
...........................naaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh, y'all thought I'd say something kinda nice, didn't you? Fuhgedaboutit. She's a Clinton. Through-and-through. Just as easily manipulated by that hand up her little behind, working her mouth, providing a voice.............
Or in her father's case of his many sextra-curricular relationships...HUMP ME DUMP ME!!
Look around Chelsea while you're at Oxford...I guarantee that several of your classmates ARE military officers [usually the top service academy graduates]. Try to be polite at your "afternoon tea."
#1."I was expounding on the detriments of Bush's tax cut as we approached Grand Central Terminal and were met with hordes of people running out of the station.."
They probably heard she was coming. "Look out, it's Chelsea! And she's expounding on the detriments of Bush's tax cut! Run for your lives!"
#2. "That Monday I went to Rosh Hashanah services w/family friends, the Iscols.... In early Aug Zach (their son) was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps..... most people could not understand his decision. Why waste a Cornell eduacation on the military? "
Oh yeah. Who needs educated people in the military? Notice how Our Heroine tries to have it both ways: she gets in the little dig at the military, then tries to pass it off as something "most people" were saying. Hmm...I wonder who "most people" are? Mommy and Daddy, maybe?
What a tiresome, self-absorbed little brat she really is. She wants us to see her as a Deep Thinker because she was supposedly concerned with Bush's tax cut at the time of the crisis. Are we supposed to admire her ability to see The Big Picture? Give me a break. She's a pompous, grandstanding fraud, just like her parents.
Walking the third friend home, perhaps? I don't know, but this just doesn't make sense. I will have to read the whole article, I suppose (sigh)...guess this means I'll have to actually buy Talk magazine.
God bless Second Lieutenant Zach Nichols for his commitment to our country. And...
God help anyone who thinks Chelsea Clinton has anything of the vaguest importance to say.
(She obviously learned to lie by observing her parents. Unfortunately she does not possess the brains to do it well.)
The hordes, THE HORDES!!!!!
Actually, what she saw was just young women running for their lives after hearing that BIll was arriving on the next train.
We're normally a pretty jovial group- But that will have us RAOTFL(Our)AO. And that way we don't have to buy it- it would be dificult to stomach TALK trumpeting the Chelsea issue as the highest circulation of the magazine.
Not like their circulation is audited, anyway.
Non-NY Freepers may be interested to know that, post-9/11, Union Square was the home base of the tiny, irrelevant lefty peacenik protesters. BIll and Chelsea couldn't have gotten more "spontaneous" thank yous if they'd been walking around the lobby of the Democratic National Committee.
Lying bitch.
Oh, I am SO happy to read this. Can you imagine the purple rage that must have erupted after that phone call? To have not only been told no by a "mere mayor," but also to have no choice but to obey? Ohhhhh that's yummy.
Yeah, when is the next happy hour, anyway (paging Silly!)
